Default Cheesy Rock Pop

This may well only appeal to those over 30 but what the hell.

Growing up with 80's films it's easy to have a secret liking for those cheesy Rock Pop tracks that popped up on every other soundtrack and you know that you shouldn't really like them but you can't help having a special folder on your HD full of tracks that should really be forgotten but somehow you just can't let go of them.

Here is a few of mine:

I don't like this song, in fact I hate it.
But my mother bought the Top Gun soundtrack (I've still never seen that movie) and for about the next 10 years I was awoken every morning by this being played at full volume.

I hate the film but love the soundtrack and also like that song. I`m kind of ashamed to admit it at times, but I do love a lot of cheesy 80`s rock stuff and my CD collection has its fair share of it.

Ha...good thread! Time for a little nostalgia.
I used to love those 80s dancing movies and their cheesy soundtracks, like all of them. They're still a bit of a guilty pleasure.

This one from the Breakdance movie, or Breakin'. Actually that soundtrack had some good stuff as well.

I have never seen Footloose but then I pretty much detest any film with dancing in it!

Talking about films and yes it is certainly not the right genre but I have this now on my HD, and JCVD fans should know this one

Oh man you know I hate that song and so did the band. It eventually contributed to the band splitting too

A few more:
With Steve Vai on the album no less, not that I'm a big fan of him.

The first lady of the genre

Journey did make a couple of decent tracks. Honestly!

Wait so is this only for cheesy pop rock from 80s soundtracks? Or just cheesy 80s (or 80s-influenced) pop rock in general? And does it have to be stuff we're ashamed to like?

I used to love this track. I played it over and over on my generic electronics manufacturer portable tape playing device.

I was 10 and had just started listening to music after moving to the states, give me a break.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
