Epitaph owns.
|
4AD and DGC, then again i dont care too much for record labels.
|
Whatever record label Pantera is signed to because they're probably my favorite metal band.
And I am 99% sure Motion City Soundrack is signed to Epitaph. And Motion City Soundtrack annoys the hell outta me |
^so? a lot of good labels have bad bands signed to them. You're making it obvious you know nothing about labels and have no place in this thread. Epitaph has a crap load of good bands. Good call Murder.
Level Plane, Sub Pop, and 4AD are worth a mention. |
Robotic Empire..
**** website but awesome label! *has just spent lots of money on their web store* Quote:

But I do happen to have a CD made by epitaph records promoting Motion City Soundtrack. And I never said I hated, disliked, loved, or liked Epitaph. I was just pointing something out. And for the record Matchbook Romance is signed to Epitaph and I actually like them. So yeah I guess you're right. Epitaph does have some good bands signed to them. But then you might say Mathcbook Romance sucks. If that is the the case then I'll save you a post: what I think is good is a matter of opinion and not fact. |
That was point you have no place in this god damn thread if you aren't fimilar with labels. gtfo.
Discord Dag nasty, Fugazi, Embrace, Minor Threat, Q and not U, Nation of Ulysses and way too many more to name.SST mostly because of Husker du, Minutemen, Meatpuppets but there are other good ones. |
RoadRunner:
Hatebreed (The Rise of Brutality) 36 Crazy Fists Cannibal Corpse Glassjaw (Everything you Ever wanted to Know About Silence) Deicide (Serpents of the Light) Dragon Force (Inhuman Rampage) Metal Blade Records: GWAR (Carnival of Chaos) As I Lay Dying[/B] (Frail Words Collapse) Manowar (Into Glory Ride) I don't listen to much of this stuff but i like these bands and they belong to the aforementioned labels. (I had my bf help me with this.) |
I'm not much of a fan of Road Runner, or Metal Blade. They're alright and have a couple decent bands, but Nickelback is on RR and that's just wrong.

I was gonna put Atlantic records on there because I like Pantera and we (me and the mr) have one of their albums that was released by Atlantic. But I didn't find any other albums or bands that were signed to Atlantic except Death Cab for Cutie. Chad Kroeger should be shot. So Should all the other members of Nickelback. Damn no good losers. |
Shadows Fall is on Atlantic now I believe.
|
Quote:
You mentioned Shadows Fall and I recognize the name but can say if I've ever heard anything by them. At any rate, I think Opeth is on Roadrunner and they're pretty good. Looking at this thread, I'm realizing that Roadrunner is definitely too commcerial. I think they have Theory of a Dead Man signed to them as well. As well as Nickelback as you previously said. . . . |
Awesome bands on Epitaph
Atmosphere Sage Francis Converge Dag Nasty Danger Doom Hot Water Music Bad Religion Death By Stereo The Descendents |
Quote:
But Sage and Dag Nasty. Sage I know is a rapper. Dag Nasty I'm almost certain is a rapper as well. . But ok. I still think the CEO should be hso for signing Motion City Soundtrack. |
Quote:
Norma Jean is okay. You should definitely check out Shadows Fall. Brian Fair, the vocalist, gets criticized a lot, but I think he's good. The guitarists are excellent though. Very talented. And yes, Theory of a Dead Man is signed to RR as well. |
Quote:
Atmosphere and Danger Doom and Sage Francis are the rappers on the list. |
Quote:
And you think Norma Jean is just ok? they can get a crowd going. And I like their stuff a lot. PS: Theory of a Dead Man sucks Quote:

Yes, TOADM does suck. |
Quote:
I've seen TOADM and Bickelback live before. Those are some of the worst cocnerts I've ever been to. No amount of alcohol could make me forget the horror of their shows |
Meshuggah's guitarists (i think theres two?) arent really anything special... the complex sound is because they use 8-string guitars, not because theyre stupidly talented :P
its the drummer that makes that band worth listening too tbh. |
Quote:
And you call the guitar sound complex, and I just see that as them creating a sound very unique to just them. Another reason to like them :) |
Tony Wilsons 'Factory Records'.
He may be a complete wanker, but there's no disputing some of his signed artists and the influence the label had on music in the 70's and 80's. A mixed bag; Joy Division. New Order. Happy Mondays. James. Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark. Cabaret Voltaire. A Certain Ratio. The Durutti Column. Northside. The Wake. 52nd Street. |
hmm there are a few i would have to say either Nuclear Blast they have quite an array of metal talent along with Candlelight and Regain
also Black Mark...Bathory's label! |
Probaly Saddle Creek, or Team Love, or Equal Vision, Wonder Years Records has alot of good stuff also.
|
Saddle Creek would be top of my list.
For obvious reasons. Geffen wouldn't be too far behind, but on a completely different scale... |

Somehow, I don't think Korn are more complex than Rush. |
Flying Nun, SST, New Alliance or Touch & Go.
