Sneer 04-23-2005 07:02 PM

Sneer 04-23-2005 07:04 PM

ok he moved from parlophone to transcopic in 2001. i'll give you that.

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-23-2005 07:12 PM

Not sure about that , all his albums have come out on transcopic & he actually runs the label from his own living room.

"After his move from parlophone in 2001, coxons gone from strength to strength, realising his potential solo prospects and grasping them with both hands". still, is NME.

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-23-2005 07:58 PM

"I bought his first solo album in 1998 when it was released and every subsequent release he made & those came out on transcopic. The first 3 albums came out before 2001 & doesn`t mention Parlophone anwhere on them whatsoever and i`m holding them in my hands right now"

By support i more meant get their name out there. Regardless of how they treat the band victory does a good job at gettin their artists name out

the_haunted 05-27-2006 08:38 PM

Roadrunner has always been my favorite and this year it got 1,000 times better when they signed Megadeth, Black Label Society, and Hatebreed. Thats three huge bands to go along with their already killer lineup (Slipknot, Stone Sour, Machine Head, and Soulfly) The only bad thing about Roadrunner is that they have one of the WORST bands EVER in Nickelback. THEY SUCK ASS.

Freakishbob 05-29-2006 09:57 AM

Metal blade....(the black dahlia murder, GWAR, the red chord, the heavils, king diamand ect)

One thing that pisses me off are the legions of closed minded indie kids who are quick to bash big labels and call any band under a big label crap... It's true that big labels are often motivated by greed, but they still promote some of the best artists around, given they will hire some really lame bands and martket the hell out of them, but it's still stupid to make a big deal out of big labels and call any band that signs under them sellouts, it's not selling out, some people just want their music to actually be heard, yeah a good paycheck dosen't hurt... With indie labels, people glorify them for sticking up for the people, or the underdog... That may be true in many cases, but a lot of indie labels are small simply because of poor financing and business practices, and many of them will sign any crappy talentless band out of sheer desperation.

Capital Records - The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, David Bowie, Queen, REM, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kraftwerk, The Buzzcocks, Janes Addiction.

Atlantic Records - Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Neil Young, AC/DC, Yes, Aretha Franklin, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus,The Temptations Bjork, Ornette Coleman, Ray Charles, The Coasters, Crosby Stills And Nash, Duck Ellington, Velvet Underground, Notorious B.I.G., Dusty Springfield, Genesis, ELP, The MC5, Rush.

Geffen Records - Nirvana, Guns N Roses, Beck, Aerosmith, Sonic Youth, John Lennon, The Cure, Elton John, The Stone Roses, Peter Gabriel, Sigur Ros, The Who, Neil Young.

Epic Records - Pearl Jam, The Clash, Rage Against The Machine (shut up), AC/DC, Stevie Ray Vaugan, The Yardbirds, Sly & The Family Stone, Michael Jackson, Jeff Beck, Incubus, Meat Loaf... Yeah Meat Loaf. ;)

Motown Records - Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Jackson 5, Isley Brothers, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Smokey Johnson & The Miracles, The Supremes, The Originals.

Sub Pop - Pixies, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, The White Stripes, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Sleater Kinney.

Sound Devastation 05-31-2006 09:16 AM

the operation of the label is far more important than the bands it has. Sony etc may have hundreds of good bands but the way in which it works should prevent it (or its subsiduaries) getting on anyones favourite list in my opinion.
