No he isnt, hes actually the most capable member next to Petrucci.

Try James Labrie.

That's just plain ridiculous and I was ready for that reply. For me to name better keyboardists than Rudess or better singers than LaBrie and better guitarists than Petrucci would be like solving a 7th order DE. And Myung is also brilliant. But I could name at least 10 drummers instantly that are better than MP technical-wise. Here is the technical ability list (from best to worst):

Rudess,
Petrucci,
LaBrie,
Myung,
Portnoy.

Technical ability wise.

Petrucci = Portnoy > Myung = Rudess >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Labrie.

Labrie just flat out sucks, even most DT fans should know that.

You can name 10 better drummers than MP, big deal, i can name 30 better than Petrucci, 30 better than Myung and at least 20 better than Rudess, all you did was laugh it off without trying to make a valid arguement, which is how you like to argue things, you're just like the KISS guy only you say things like "lollolol" and "rofl" instead of "in your opinion"...Its basicaly your way of saying "i have nothing important to contribute to this forum".

You shouldnt even bother making a reply prog metal boy, im not the worlds biggest technical skill expert, but im damn sure i know more about instrumental ability than you do.

I can also name more skilled players than petrucci, from every genre too, except maybe the blues, because the blues simply isnt a very technical chops oriented style of music.

^ By the way folks, this guy actualy included Kurt Cobain and Robert Smith on a poll of the most technically skilled guitarists of all time...Im not joking, though i wish i was.

Silly, silly boy. Name me a singer who has a better range and tonal expression than LaBrie. And my list above is non-arguable :P

I said instantly.

Because you're an absolute idiot most of the time so of course all I need to do is say “rofl,” I thought you understood that by now. But of course, every now and then you say something so stupid that I need to guide your poor soul.

Attention everyone: boo boo thinks he knows more about technical ability than me and he think MP = Petrucci and Rudess is worse than both of them. He also thinks there are at least 20 (yes he wasn't being sarcastic, TWENTY) keyboardists better than Rudess.

I never said I couldn't, I said it'd be extremely hard. And it'd also be hard for you if you weren't so blinded by bias all the time.

ROFL. I was going to post a link, but this reply was too good to go to waste, here we go, everyone, here's what I said in my “Ultimate Guitarist Poll” thread some time ago, in which booey had no comeback for, of course:

“lol!!! Wow, you think you're like the smartest man in the world when it comes to music rofl. And for a 19 year old, that's pretty hilarious if I do say so myself.
It's also funny how you think I don't know what you're trying to say, hahaha. Oh wow, so let me get this straight; you're saying that composition is a part of technical skill! omggg how the hell did I guess that? I must be a genius (which I am). You're just too dumb to realise the basis of what I've been arguing with you, and I'm obviously on the winning side since I'm the one that started the poll! lol times 5!

So okay, I'll explain my side for you, being the law grad that I am:

1) The first and most important point is: I made the poll so I'm the one that consequently decides what the theme is about,

2) I was initially going to make it in terms of technical skill alone but I realised that the misinformed wouldn't actually know who (or how) to vote, which is silly in itself, so there isn't really a need for such poll, and indeed one of this magnitude,

3) So what I decided to do was make it in terms of technical/[SLASH]composition, with the slash meaning OR, or a combination of the two. So this means that someone could vote whom they thought was the best technical guitarist (and decide that by technical skill alone or composition, which is what you've pointed out so obviously to me) OR, they could choose to vote for a guitarist that they just happen to appreciate for whatever reason, and that reason can be dumbed down to “composition,”

4) Now, there of course is a major flaw with this poll and indeed of all polls. The flaw being that the maker of the poll isn't assured that the people voting will share similar (or a relatively high) knowledge about the theme of the poll. Which means, in terms of this example, that obviously not everyone is going to have heard every single CD and demonstration video of every guitarist on there. And even if this was the case, who's to say if they really know what's technically skilled or not? Which would mean that you would have to be perhaps a professional guitarist to vote properly if you were going to vote purely on skill and come to an appropriate conclusion. But of course, I posted this poll on a site which features people of a wide range of ages and knowledge, which means that if someone liked a guitarist just because they play for their favourite band (or for whatever reason), that's fine. And it's something that we can't measure, and if we could there wouldn't be a point for a poll,

5) The main conjecture is that you were saying composition is a skill that can be measured objectively and thus be contributed to skill. I actually agree with this (and had many long arguments about it), but this is not what I was arguing against here. I was arguing about the theme of the poll, and like I said, I made the damn poll, so of course I'm right. I created this so called argument because of your extreme arrogance which seems to exponentially climb. I merely wanted to point out that thinking Cobain was skilled for whatever reason is fine, and that it seems like you think you get to decide who likes what and like you know exactly who the BEST EVER MUISICANS WITH A 100% CERTAINTY are. I gave up caring about that whole crap long ago when I realised music is a lot more about who's the best, it all comes down to recognition, which all comes down to feeling...And I learnt that when I was about seven...”

And PS: A mod added in Robert Smith, not me.

Pwned!

Yeah, I had a feeling you didn't understand my proposal when you put in Presley. I said RANGE. I put a big cross through each of those suggestions. Hm, Tate is good, ****inson is ok, but saying they have a greater range than LaBrie is pretty lolly.

It's hard to think of someone who has both a greater range and also tonal expression than LaBrie. And of course, we're just talking about rock here (sorry Whitney, lol), but I came up two, perhaps:

Eduardo Falaschi and
Roy Khan.

You dont know a damn thing about drumming do you?

Try talking to some actual drummers, keyboardists and guitarists, not including DT fanboys.

Labrie dosent come close to any of those singers in range, I'm a better singer than James LaBrie...Worship me.

Plus you probably dont even know what a octave is, lemmie give you a clue, almost all of those singers have a bigger octave range...Mercury's is around 3.25/3.5, Jeff Buckley's is a 4, Tate's is either 3 or 3.5 and LaBrie is around 2.75...You do the math.

And of course, octaves can be measured.

http://digitaldreamdoor.com/forum1/v...t=2857&start=0

I dont see him on that list, and you can go ahread and call all the experienced and trained vocalists who helped make that list morons if you want.

One of the best tones in rock?..Dickinson is just ok?...You dont have the slightest idea what you are talking about.

God you're such a f*cking moron, YOU'RE A MORON!!!!!!!

I've said it several times already. I had a document with at least 500 guitarists, MB only lets you have a certain amount, and they give you a time limit, so I randomly selected guitarists instead of just putting in my favourite ones. Many guitarists were on my list because of others' suggestions from sites or whatever whether I agreed with them or not.

If I know nothing about guitar playing then why were so many guitar gods on my list, i.e Vai, Malmsteen, Petrucci, Satriani, Batio, etc. And why am I a reviewer? lol, you like playing the denial card, it doesn't really work for you I'm afraid.

I explained why Cobain is on there, and I'm not lying. Read through the entire thread. And note that “other” used to be on the bottom, someone complained and then a mod said "fine, happy?" or something like that.

And being a critic means sh*t when it comes to musical know how, i have heard critics call The Edge the best guitarist in the world.

DT fans calling other bands boring and directionless defines hypocritical.

Why were so many guitar gods NOT on there?....Steve Howe, Shawn Lane, Leo Kottke, tons of jazz players, yeah, Cobain pwns them all.

And Batio is no god at anything, except pure mindless wankery, but i bet you luuuuuuv that stuff.

Well, your options still could have been a little more planned out, instead of being so random...Because it ended up being a real waste of bandwidth.
