No, but they did influence many punk bands, and they are indeed punk.

Anyway you are talking about sub-genres of sub-genres, which is different. Im not talking about death metal or thrash metal or power metal or doom metal, just plain metal in general. When you start one whole genre, and influence basicly every sub-genre within that genre, you would be considered a part of that genre.

They aren't metal. Listen to them and a 328742034 other metal bands you'll the hear an influence and thats its sabbath aren't metal.

What does the sound have to do with anything?...Its not like every metal band is gonna sound the same, people may be strongly influence by someone even when they dont sound like them, hell, The Beatles primary influences when they started out were Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Little Richard and The Everley Brothers...Black Sabbath are metal for inventing metal the same way Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and Bill Hailey are rock n roll for inventing rock n roll.

I mean, talk to any Sabbath fan or metalhead and they will tell you that Sabbath are metal, i dont know how you could argue with that.

I think not.
Bad Brains and Black Flag are punk to me, but they're hardcore. That could make Ramones hardcore, seeing that they are as lame as BB, but still both kick-assical bands.

They dont sound anything like metal and the influenced the riffs its it. Just cause a band influences something doesn't mean its immdeitly in that genre. I sure as hell wouldn't call all the bubblegum bands punk just because they heavily influenced the ramones.

But theres a difference, The Ramones didnt invent a whole genre, they revolutionized a whole genre, which is different...My point is, there was punk rock before The Ramones, there was no metal before Black Sabbath...They didnt just influence metal, they freaking started it, theres a difference.

They ARENT metal seriously listen to them and compare them to multiple metal bands they aren't if anything theyre hard rock seriously your not saying anything else but "they started metal yes theyre the only metal band that sounds like this" Use your ears everyone thinks their metal but they aren't there wrong. Every single person i know that knows alot about metal all agree they aren't christ.
