That post you qouted was rather laden with genre explanations, and, of course, my favorite "core" ending to each genre type... you gotta love our society and its will to categorize everything...

Not really when they were an american nu-metal band that formed in 2000, lol.

If you're thinking of Opeth they didnt either, they took the swedish death metal sound into prog territory. Death metal was pioneered in the mid-80's by bands like Possessed and Death
