Wait didn't you say that Kiss was like the first Sludge (Metal*) band? So KISS is a "Sludge Metal" band when they're influencing other bands, but when they're compared to other Metal bands KISS "are not metal, they're hard-rock band?" Eddie Trunk talks about them often and I never heard him make a distinction that they were never a Metal band.

* I looked up "sludge grunge" and there is no such sub-genre as recognized by Google, there were no "sludge grunge" results in a Google returns as would a "Sludge Metal" return would show.

^^my own invention - sludge grunge

nope I don't think KISS qualifies as metal, Black Sabbath may have early traces of doom metal, there's too much bluesy stuff in KISS to be "metal"

Black Sabbath were also blues musicians by trade and I think there is enough in the Kiss sound and image to be classified as metal.

I always thought Kiss was straight up hard rock.

god, too much attention for KISS in this thread. You can call em hard rock, or metal... i will just call em theatrics.
