GuitarHeroFan101 10-25-2012 04:00 AM

Not a big fan, but I like some of their songs, such as Go With The Flow.

DropThaSystem 11-18-2012 10:02 AM

I used to really like QOTSA. I don't really care for them anymore. Go With The Flow,Little Sister, and 3's & 7's are the only songs I've heard by them. They really just don't interest me now.

You used to really like them but you've only heard three of their songs?

I heard previews of other songs, too. I started to like them when I heard Go With The Flow.

So Dave Grohl is apparently going to be playing drums on the new album again. Kind of disappointed in Castillo's departure but I'm sure there are valid reasons. Wondering if Grohl will tour with them too since he's also announced a Foo Fighters hiatus...

If Jack White did something with them I'd be all over it.

Thats two pieces of good news in one post. Nice work, Mr. Dave.

Yes, I'm really excited for the new album (which is due out in the first half of 2013) because of Dave Grohl, but moreso because of this quote:

Quote:

In March 2011, Homme stated, "Doing the rehearsals for the first record is really defining the new one. It's been turning the new record into something else. What we were doing was kind of bluesy, and now it's turned into this trancey, broken thing. The robots are back!"
He was referring to their tour promoting the re-release of the Self-Titled album. This was quite a while ago however so things could have changed since then but... fingers crossed.

Looks like Nick is back for the new album. Needless to say, with Dave Grohl and Nick Oliveri back this may just be shaping up to compete with Songs for the Deaf. I haven't been this excited for a QOTSA album for a long time...

This is really surprising considering some of the comments Homme has publicly made about Oliveri in the past. There's also a pretty huge difference in recording vocals for one song and rejoining the band as an instrumentalist. Quite frankly, I don't think he's that great of a bass player, he's definitely no Scott Reeder... and he re-joined Kyuss again that's like what, the 14th time?

The QOTSA facebook posted this a while back, it's pretty funny.

Related, the Grohl/Homme/Rezner jam from Sound City is up on youtube. Focuses on Rezner, but Homme is just cool as **** in it.

Jack in green 02-13-2013 05:01 AM

Hi!
so, I think that the queens of the stone age as many other band have choice to sit down on their popularity.
They have product songs less interesting and by now they are a little commercial.

debaserr 02-13-2013 10:41 AM

The thing is, it's just amazing to feel your popularity inside you.

duga 02-13-2013 09:31 PM

Let popularity touch the goods.

Electrophonic Tonic 02-17-2013 12:03 AM

I have no idea how the hell this will sound... but I don't think I could get any more stoked for this new album!

On a side note, QOTSA could do an awesome cover of The Bitch is Back.

Sharkie 03-27-2013 08:36 PM

I'm not really a fan, but they're good.

I don't think they're so popular now. They are on the way to it, though.

Nice, I couldn't force myself to listen to that awful concert rip:

Queens Of The Stone Age | My God Is The Sun

EDIT: Meh

Meh indeed. Sounds like Era Vulgaris Pt 2, which is a shame because they were hyping it up to be more like the Self Titled.

debaserr 04-08-2013 04:09 PM

Wuuut Era Vulgaris kicks the **** out of that (and I don't hold EV with any less regard than their other stuff either).

Really? I liked it a bit more than half the stuff on EV, but I think EV is easily their worst.

I guess the new single sounds most like Them Crooked Vultures, sans the cool instrumentation from JPJ.

Alfred 04-08-2013 05:51 PM

I hate to state the obvious, but it's one song, and the first single at that.

I personally think it's pretty good, instrumentally. Not too interesting vocally, though.

Era Vulgaris is a pretty solid album. Misfit Love I'd consider their best song there. I don't think it can compete with Rated R or Lullabies to Paralyze though.

This is pretty much my thoughts on this track. I'm hoping more songs on the album are more fleshed out, along the lines of Songs for the Deaf. And hopefully Dave Grohl brings the same level of playing on that album because I found the drums on this track pretty mundane.

Electrophonic Tonic 05-06-2013 11:54 PM

I like this more than My God is the Sun and the music video is pretty awesome. It reminds me of NASA's videos from Spirit of Apollo.

debaserr 05-14-2013 08:43 PM

**** yes good new qotsa:

debaserr 05-15-2013 11:04 AM

Leaked.

CutiePants 07-09-2013 04:08 PM

Was gonna read through the whole thread until I realized it's 35 pages long. lol Just gonna throw it out that QOTSA is my favorite band EVER. With a few very rare exceptions they pretty much never do any wrong. I think the new album ...Like Clockwork is AMAZING. I absolutely love it. There's almost nothing sexier than a QOTSA song. Period.
