This is the kind of death metal band that a lot of other death metal bands roll their eyes at.

I see them as the Motorhead of death metal. For the most part their releases aren't stone cold classics, but they have been pretty solid throughout their entire careers. I'd sure as hell rather listen to Vile than 95% of other DM albums.

I wouldn't go that far. Motorhead, though not death metal, is better than so many bands in the genre. Saying that CC are like the Motorhead of death metal is giving the band far too much credit. Lemmy would slap you.

My point is that Motorhead releases a lot of albums, very few of which are bad, but very few of which are legitimate classics. Same with Cannibal Corpse. And just because they have daft lyrics (although I would call them fun) doesn't make their music any worse. They're a very solid death metal band with some brilliant songs.

I can't bring myself to agree with you. I've listened to a lot of CC...but, brilliant? Too much credit in my opinion.

They do have some brilliant musicianship, that's for sure. Loads of highly technically demanding songs.

Never said the band was brilliant, but I'd say these songs are pretty brilliant.

I agree that they can play. But I wouldn't call the band brilliant. I doubt I'll ever find a song I care for. I always check out their new albums when they put one out, just to see if there is at least one song I like. Never is.
