Cannibal Corpse
since January, my friend John got me into hating Cannibal Corpse, tellnig me all their negative stories and how disgusting they are. but jsut two days ago my friend Ken shows me a song from them called Decency Defied or something, and it was kick-ass. but i've heard other songs like Addicted to Vagina Skin and I *** Blood, and they both sucked ass. so im still deciding if i like Cannibal Corpse or not. if ATVS and ICB are the new Cannibal Corpse and Decency Defied is the old CC, or vice versa, tell me so i can write Cannibal Corpse(old) on my myspace. so take a vote.
|
Well, I don't mind CC, there music is decent for a Death Metal band, but they do have strange themes. I love Death Metal and Grind, but I prefer bands that keep the **** away from their music. Doesn't matter how heavy and insane they are, but adding disturbing art and such makes me lose interest.
|
If you have to decide, if you're not hit with instant adoration, chances are they suck big ass.
A band with that many gimmicks can't fall back on the music. I hate them. |
Idiotic crap for 13 year olds
if they didn`t have such stupid song titles nobody would care |
they suck ass

they're all right, i like their older stuff better than the newer.
try Bloodthirst or Gallery of Suicide, since i see you dislike the old and enjoy the new. |
I'd rather listen to another band.....
they suck..ass. |
Me and my friends put together a gag band called Seven Feet Below and we mock them. well the lyrics. which are abysmal. I don't mind the music in small doses
|
Cannibal Corpse rocks, Six Feet Under is stupid.
|

Cannibal Corpse is KICK ASS listen 2 them
|
My Boyfriend once bought an album cause the band had a cool name, it turned out it suck a$$. I think that it was Cannible Corpse. Never judge music by the antics of the people who play it, if I did I would never have like Ozzy. But I don't know, I haven't heard them, nor do I have the desire to, as they call themselves Cannible Corpse, which gives me a little insight into what the lyrics are probably going to be like. .
|
Well, errm l have to admit l'm all for different and .. uh.. CC are deffinately out of the ordinary, on a more than disgusting factor.... but l actually like em a fair bit. they are actually the only GC band l even consider listening to.
Once upon a time, l looked up CC lyrics.... oneof the most disturbing yet creative songs would have to be 'necropedophile' .... l being myself grosse was quite inspired.. but after referring it to a friend, l realised that CC's lyrics are mutually ****ed up.. but l still like em ... their best song would have to be 'sentenced to burn' from the gallery of suicide album, l actually did not realise it was them until the second riff! loved it! |
Yeah, I agree with SFS, they may be really intense lyrically wise but altogether they are an ok band. The lyrics can sometimes go a bit far but all round the music is good and you can't understand a damn word of them anyway so it doesn't really matter. I would say that the new stuff is alot better than the old
|
its like .. after you look past all the guts and grime .. there IS a rainbow on the otherside of the rotting corpse! :)
|
I wouldn't say so much of a rainbow, maybe some good music just not as far as a rainbow....that's pushing it a little
|
Well metaphorically speaking that rainbow was in all actuality the so called 'deeper meaning' of CC songs! i guess not many people see this as they look straight at the lyrics, vomit a little or alot and run away screaming or giggling insanely like school girls! or choir boys *giggles like a chior boy* .... In all fact when l was reading a very interesting peice created by the gutting ghouls, l saw deep within the lyrical basis, and felt as if l was staring into a dark abyss. The creepy thing was l thought l could see kansas .. and well all know that there is no place like home ..
Oh ok . seriously .. look within the insane Kaleidascope, and gradually decipher a complex realisation of life and your purpose in accordance with gods divine plan! .... more or less there is alot more to it than what there seems to be! Look in it and you might just find a reason to live! |
I have lots to say;
Cannibal Corpse is probably my second favorite metal band, third overall. They were the band that got me into death metal, after being stuck in black metal. I don't find their lyrics disturbing or mortifying. They're lyrics. To me, it's not about what is being said, but how it's being said. At first, when I heard some stuff from "Gore Obsessed," I was like, "What the hell? These guys have no structure. It's just noise....." When you're in that comfort zone of music where everything is simple; 4/4 or 3/4 time signatures, no tempo changes, and overall just easy to follow music. It gets boring. I gave them another go, and I was amazed by them; Beyond the chaotic sound was a group of 5 musicians pushing their bodies and minds to manipulate their instruments (or in George Fisher's case, vocal cords). Just people like me, my friends, and everybody else on this planet who took the gift of time and treated it as one by perfecting and sharpening their playing. And the shocker I found was that these guys are considered the tip of the ice berg. I know there's more to music than technicality. If I was into it for technicality, Disturbed wouldn't be my favorite band. But technicality to me shows perseverance, endurance, stamina. I own; Eaten Back To Life, Vile, Live Cannibalism (VHS and CD), Gore Obsessed, 15 Year Killing Spree (just 3 discs; they were burnt and I can't figure out how to copy DVD's), The Wretched Spawn, and Kill. I think George Fisher is better than Chris Barnes, but I still think both are great in their own way. I like both old CC and New CC. Old CC has that rough under-produced thrash-influenced sound where it isn't about playing tight as much as it is getting a message out, even if the message involves blood and guts. New CC takes that and adds more brutality to it. I know how to play on guitar "A Skull Full of Maggots," "Stripped, Raped, and Strangled," and "Hammer Smashed Face," and am going to try and learn "Blowtorch Slaughter," "Covered with Sores," "Decency Defied," "Death Walking Terror," and "Shredded Humans" in the next year. Side notes; When I think of the kind of "brootal" music 12 year olds would listen to, Cannibal Corpse doesn't come to mind. At least around here, I didn't know about them until my senior year in high school. I think 12 year olds would most likely be getting into "Korn" or "Slipknot" before even hearing about Cannibal Corpse. Quote:

<Anal C*nt
Atleast they're purposely dumb. |
You're comparing two completely different bands. You might as well compare Emperor to Lacuna Coil.
|
No, I wouldn't insult Emperor like that.
<Circle of Dead Children. Better? |
No, because it's still wrong.
Cannibal Corpse>any grindcore band. Death>Cannibal Corpse. |
No, cause that statement is wrong, and CC are lame.
F*ck... I'm Dead>any grindcore band |

No, I've listened to music for many years now.
This argument could go on forever because we're both too stubborn. |
Kill is a awesome album.

Quote:
Kill was the second CC album I got.... well, technically 3rd because I got "Live Cannibalism" Before it. Loved it. Been trying to learn Death Walking Terror, which seemed like an easy enough song to play to me. I'm not very great at technical guitar playing. |
My personal favorite is The Time to Kill is Now, perhaps one the most intense songs ever. Props for tying to learn their stuff, they are extremely good musicians.
|
I forget which song it is, but it has an awesome bass riff in the beginning. I think it was the Discipline of Revenge.
Yeah. That and "Grotesque" off of Gore Obsessed I think have awesome bass melodies. |
Well I like them
|
They have the most retarded song themes (like shooting blood out of your ****)
But they sound okay... |
canibal corpse are the epitome of ****. i listen to them and all i hear is some teenager screaming well he's mowing the lawn.
|
Cannibal Corpse's first three albums did a lot for pushing death metal into the mainstream and reaching a wider audience. With that said I haven't listened to them much in the past few years. They're good enough to warrant recognition.
