Hm i think i would say its my favorite of the ones ive heard. Although Freermasonry is really great too. It's "noisier" if thats more your thing. Kinda sounds like turning to an unused radio frequency and hearing some demonic voice on the other end. freaky stuff

I like it! Is that considered blackgaze? It sounds really different from other black metal I've heard.
I often consider their stuff blackgaze as well, but they are a black metal project. They're pinned down as experimental black metal, which I agree with because they're hard to pin down after listening to them fully.

Why not just call it progressive black? And is shoegaze referring to when guitarists are constantly messing around at their effects/looping pedals at their feet while playing? Still trying to figure out what that term means. Most of it seems like drone or just progressive.

btw for me, experimental = progressive.

Shoegaze is a style of music that combines a very sweet pop sensibility with noisy, distorted guitar and often a lo-fi approach to production.

It sounds like this:

Sometimes there is nothing better than shoegaze. Really.

I know my bloody valentine, but idk man, i guess i know what other people are referring to when using the term "shoegaze", but i never use that word, doesnt sound right. Maybe because I'm from one of the most hipster-populated cities in the states, ive gotten so sick of EVERYONE overusing and overglorifying that word that I can only associate it with boring **** thats just some kid playing around with looping effects in his garage just to avoid being mainstream.

Because it's not progressive. It's hardly complex, nor pieced by different structures throughout their tracks. Experimental music ventures beyond common attitudes, cultures or stylistic borderlines.

Well, whether you like it or not, it is a style of music with a particular sound that doesn't resemble progressive, which has its own sound and its own annoying group of people associated with it. As does black metal for that matter. If you let annoying fans of genres turn you off to them there may be no music left to enjoy.

Which is something that I'm completely unaware of because I live under a rock
