Yah I'm heartbroken, but also, a bit disappointed as well. It sounds like, for whatever reason, Abbath thought Harald and Reidar left the band, and then instead of asking why the hell they left, he decided that then was the perfect time to trademark the Immortal name for himself, and also finish the rest of their album by hiring outside musicians. Because that is a perfectly appropriate thing to do and would absolutely not qualify as screwing your friends over.

I haven't seem this much assine dickishness since the firing of Dave Lombardo.

This is the Ghost Kommando side of the split 7" with White Medal. Recommended.

What the hell is BLACK metal? Is it the clown makeup?

And how does it differ from Black Doom, Pagan Metal, Viking Metal, and Shoegaze?

Well two of those aren't even real genres (in terms of the music), one is just a combination of black and doom metal, and one is not even metal in any way, shape, or form

So, what is black metal? Is it metal performed by black people? Or white people in black makeup? Or white people in white makeup!?!?

Is there a White Metal? Metal performed by white people?
Green Metal? Metal performed by guys that want to save the Rain Forest?
Red Metal? Metal by followers of Satan?
Aqua Metal? Save the whales?

This fits into the whole "genre overload" thing for me.

It's f*cking just metal for cripes sake.

You got the internet right there

Quote:
Black metal is an extreme subgenre and subculture of heavy metal music. Common traits include fast tempos, a shrieking vocal style, highly or heavily distorted guitars played with tremolo picking, raw (lo-fi) recording, unconventional song structures and an emphasis on atmosphere.
That's black metal at it's purest

I think that the only thing really differentiating black metal from death metal is the lo fi element and the bent towards a more atmospheric sound.

Sounds like early Metallica to me.

Honestly, it's all about the clown makeup, right?
