Definitely Kashmir and I first heard it on telly.

Ladies!? and gentlemen.

All of LZ1 was recorded using the Telecaster that Jeff Beck gave Jimmy after Page recommended him as Eric Clapton's replacement in the Yardbirds. Originally it was Olympic White as can be seen below:

Jimmy had a friend re-paint the top and add graphics. It was then used to record LZ1 and played on all shows prior to and in support of LZ1.

One night at a party Jimmy agreed to buy Joe Walsh's 1959 Les Paul. Around the same time he'd gotten his first Marshall amp. He's quoted as saying that once he plugged the LP into the Marshall, dimed the controls, and slammed an open E chord: BBBRANGGGGGGGGGGgggggggggg............, that was it. That tele was retired.

Re: The Danelectro

Started using one very early on because he loved how it sounded like a sitar when using non-standard tunings. First used it with Zep live when doing his Black Mountain (D-A-D-G-A-D) solo spot.

When they started working on Kashmir in 1974 which used a D-A-D-G-A-D tuning, it was a no brainer he'd use it for the song live. And he did for the hundreds of times Zep performed it. He also used it on In My Time of Dying.

TL;DR

Sorry a telecaster never came within a restraining order's distance of being any part of Kashmir.

*thanks the crowd, steps off lecturn, and proceeds to trip over the mic cable*

^Sounds like you got your story from the beginning part of Back to the Future. I've heard he gave up the Telecaster after he had the humbuckers split and rewired to switch between single coil/humbucker and in/out of phase. He didn't need the Tele cause he could get a single coil sound from his Les Paul.

His #1 Les Paul (the one he got from Walsh) didn't have those mods. Those were done to his #2 which he got well after he'd retired that first tele, i.e; Telecaster.

Kudos to you for knowing the minutiae of all things Led Zeppelin. But it was Jimmy Page himself who said that he didn't need the Tele after getting the mods. So you can argue with Jimmy on that account cause that is what he said.

This is Page's #2 with the two switches mounted under the pick-guard.

Source?

I could bore you with all of the books, interviews, etc. I read about Jimmy and Zep. I've never come across anything to back this assertion up.

Just a small sampling....
