Black metal? Black metal. The song that I'm listening to, "Marie In A Cage," isn't on Youtube, though. Too bad, it's a really good song.

This band is absolutely heat-wrenching to listen to. I'm not well versed in black metal by any means, but this is probably some of the saddest black metal I've ever heard. Also, the bass is excellent, which is always good to hear in metal period.

This band has some of the sickest riffs I've ever heard, and this song in particular is like crack.

That's a band I like that I would actually play at work if they didn't keep yelling Satan all the freaking time. Great vintage BOC meets Merciful Fate.

Some people consider this one of the first Bestial Black Metal songs. Don't ask me what that means, all I know is this sounds great cranked in a warehouse or large garage.

Check out Deafheaven if you like these guys.

Meh, there's lots of bitching & moaning between those who prefer the old Norsecore style & those into the blasphemy/sarco***o/sadistik exekution (etc.) worship groups which are alternately called "bestial black metal" & "war metal". I dunno if it's just temporary, but if this continues we may see the genre bifurcate between those who continue to push the genre into more extreme sounds & those exploring the atmospheric side of things.... which may sound like pointless line drawing, but consider:

...why put both of these in the same genre?

Speaking of Sarcofago, I was just giving their first album, INRI, a third listen. First time, meh, second time, pretty cool actually, third time, amazing. Basically sounds like a better version of In Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, or In Mysteriis Dom Sathanas sounds like a worse version of INRI, since INRI came out like seven years earlier.

Checking out the new Gojira album, L'Enfant Sauvage. Not bad, if I do say so myself. Never really listened to them before now, may have to fix that.

Because "norsecore" is the most frivolous use of the silly "core" suffix ever?
