Believe me, I'm very aware that CoF have a fair amount if **** material, but I don't listen to that so I couldn't care less. So say whatever you want but I will never not think this is one of the sickest black metal releases ever.



These riffs, just every single one is killer, really super bitching guitars, great energy. It's very light on the cringe material too, compared to some other stuff if theirs. This is hella their best album.

And regardless of how annoying you think Dani Filth's vocals are, you gotta admit they're unique, and I bet it took some nice throat ripping to reach the outrageous and over the top shrieks you can hear in their early work.

Cruelty and the Beast is their best album ( followed by Dusk and her embrace ).

I've come to like Sepultura more over the last year or whatever, but why anyone would be particularly impressed with their 80s material when this already existed is beyond me.

Why anyone in the 1980s was so impressed by Mayhem and other European and American pussified 'extreme' metal acts when they sounded like One Direction compared to these Brazilian guys?
