I haven't thought about Bölzer in a while and I'm only recently discovering their first full length release, so I checked it out, and kinda was underwhelmed. It's not bad but it really didn't have a lot that stuck with me, which is a shame. Looking back to Aura, which is a seriously great release with a lot of memorable moments packed into a short EP that I always wished was longer. A really cool mildly progressive black/death metal meshing with great emphasis in nelody and atmosphere and like everything else that makes music. Maybe Hero will grow on me but first listen wasn't particularly stellar, more unexciting than not throughout, it feels way more reserved and that doesn't quite work for me

I could generally give a **** about Arch Enemy's super-polished bull**** melodeath, especially with Angela Gossow, but for one brief, shining song, they were completely and utterly savage.

Most of the first 3 Angela records are pretty cool. "We Will Rise" still gets the blood flowing.

A little pre-meeting Finnish DM. Adramelech are severely underrated. My forum search turned up two mentions. Get on it team!

Determining by sound, it seems the most difficult language in the world.

Too bad these guys came out too early (1998) and then apparently switched to an inferior vocalist after their first two albums, cause they could just be the best thing to happen to the thrash revival. Not much more than really good death thrash, even the singer could have fronted any similar band from the late-80s/early-90s. But unlike so many other retro bands, who either settle for cartoony flaccidness, or just flaccidness, with boring production, Ritual Carnage hit like a ****ing freight train and see no reason to use obsolete production just for ****s and giggles. Brutal, lightspeed riffs ahoy!

^ One of the best albums ever right there.

Also, this guy has some amazing pipes.

American answer to the Venom. One of the first Christian metal records.

Wow, very tasty riffing and you're right, the man can sing. I'll have to check out more from this album.

Been sick the past two days so came into work at 6:45 to catch up. Started off with some of Mondo's recommendations and moved on to one a friend made the other day:

Melodic death/doom with a few avantgarde touches. And lyrics about cannibalism. A lot of lyrics. OK, all the lyrics.
