I think they could have had any number of hits to rival Hysteria or Appetite for Destruction on this if whatever marketing blah blah blah. This sounds like a diamond selling album tbh for whatever it's worth."Silent Lucidity" is phat as **** too, even though it should be cheesy and awful. I mean pretty much every song is a metallized pop banger.

It is def the ****. I don't even know how it could be underrated with its quality and pedigree at the same time, but somehow it is. wtf

But instrumentally Control Denied is cool as **** if I'm in the right mood.

Control Denied were great. Also, here's some more good stuff in the vein of Empire-era QR.

And Spiritual Healing is another underrated Death album. It's at a completely unique position of being the absolute missing link between raw, old school, 80s death metal and tech/prog death metal. It just sounds so ****ing cool.

They have a lot in common....just one threw in a sax-y power ballad in 1992 and the other just screams a lot over Watchtower-inspired riffs. Both bands are technical juggernauts.
I used to like DT and even saw them live once, so it's not like I'm blindly dismissing them.

Hmm. I don't remember posting that. I was heavily drunk last night, and I guess I decided to listen to Obscura and harp on extreme metal with a bunch of (false) generalizations. Feel free to ignore that post.

I dislike OSDM, but every once in a while I find something I like.
