You really checked out every song posted in this thread? You didn't just reach a point where you thought, "I haven't liked anything this guys posted, I'm just going to skip this crap...."?

First off, I just want to say that I really enjoyed reading everyone's comments, with exception of a couple that were mildly disturbing, but really, overall, I love the sense of humour and sarcasm here, it makes me smile.

Now, for the actual music bit, almost everything that I listened to in this thread was new to me, and I really don't know anything about music other than the fact that if I hear something that I like, I like it. I have to admit though, I actually liked some of the stuff that was posted here! A lot of it may be too much for me though, honestly, mostly in this case it seems to be the vocals and sometimes the lyrics as well that I can't get used to, at least for now.

Anyway, I hope you guys don't mind be posting all this nonsense on your thread.
That sounds not only excessive, but also rather masochistic.

Speak for yourself, I know all my recs are quality haha

Anyways, I was watching some of the live stream from this year's Rock am Ring, which just so happened to feature one of the first shows Killswitch Engage has played with Jesse Leach since he rejoined the band. That, in turn, had me yearning that they return to a sound like this:

There were a few songs posted here that were not too bad, and if you have read any of my other posts in some of the other threads you would most likely come to the conclusion that they were probably the "cheesier" ones. Like I said, almost everything posted here was new to me, so I suppose I was curious and wanted to check things out, nothing wrong with that is there.
Not at all, its a great way to check out vids if you're new to metal and also a good way to get into new metal even if you're a metal listner.

That was... surprisingly good. I have a morbid desire to watch the episode it's from. Any idea?

Anyway, this is what I'm listening to. Taking a trip back into my past and listening to some Anthrax.

I am curious to hear everyone's opinions on the song Whiskey In The Jar, as you all most likely already know, the first was done by Thin Lizzy and the the second is by Metallica. I really like both, I really like the original Thin Lizzy version, and I almost always prefer a song done by the original band/artist, but in this case I tend to be drawn more towards the Metallica version, not sure why really, for some strange reason I think prefer the more aggressive sound of it I suppose.

So, I suppose what I am asking is which version of the song do you prefer and why? I am also aware that this song may not be "metal" enough for most of you, but I can't resist asking anyway.
"Whiskey in the Jar" is a traditional Irish folk song

Thin Lizzy didn't write it

it first came to popularity (again) in the 60s with the Dubliners' version, and that's the version I like the best

and yes, Metallica's version is heavily based on Thin Lizzy's interpretation

and no, I don't like either of the "metal" versions much
