Pulled out my old copy of Necroshine that I haven't listened to in forever. This is one nasty slab of post-Pantera groove/thrash. Generally I'm not the biggest fan of this kinda music, but it's ****ing Overkill, and I won't say that they can do no wrong, but they do very little of it. This might be some very modern sounding thrash, but it still sounds like Overkill, just Overkill for the new millenium. And of course Blitz's vocals are amazing on this. He definitely has a cocksureness on this album, but it's not so much arrogance as confidence backed up by experience. Combined with the devastating music, this album just has a level of threat and "**** You" attitude that a two decade year old band has no business having. Like the house band to a bar that I am far too big of a pussy to ever go to.

I'm making it new job to listen to Overkill's modern output, and I've started with Bloodletting, the follow up to Necroshine. Combines their newer style with more of an old school Overkill sound, and it ****ing kills. Just a completely devastating modern thrash album that puts newer albums by Slayer and Exodus to shame. Is it too early to say that Overkill is quite possibly the most metal band of all time?

For me Overkill's output has always been filled with potentially good songs ruined by the vocals. Looks like they're still at it unfortunately.

I have to agree with you on this. I always liked their instrumentals. Slayer is still King.

This is foul deathcore, but I gave this a second, third, fourth.... listen cause of the double kick technique. It's bloody good.

Okay, holy **** guys, why has nobody told me about Russian Circles before? I listened to this song kinda sorta on accident, and my jaw literally dropped as soon as it kicked into gear. I'm on the third song of the album, and it is amazing so far. Seriously. Why.
