One band I could never get into. I respect their talent, and they are phenomenal musicians. I give them credit where credit is due in that department. I just find that the music bores me.

Images & Words is one of the best albums ever, sax and all.

Good place to start, is pretty good. I'm going to give Thelma 6 a listen since it's regarded as one of their better albums as well. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

That Ahab track is pretty cool btw, kind of sounds like Opeth on a really twisted acid trip.
Call of the Wretched Sea in its entirety is very exotic sounding funeral doom, definitely worth a listen. You get a really heavy Egyptian/Middle Eastern vibe with it, and I don't know about you, but I can't get enough of that sh!t

Also NP-

I've never listened to much of them since a lot of their music is rather dull, but they certainly have their moments, even their metal moments.

^ Agreed. Dream Theater are very hit and miss, but their wins (I&W, Falling Into Infinity, Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence) tend to outweigh their more mixed material. Octavarium and their self-titled from last year were fairly solid too.

On another note, here's 18 minutes of metal fun.

I dun have a problem with hardcore metal when it's mixed with post-metal/post-hardcore/alternative metal.

Old schooooool. Excellent vid, including what I'm pretty sure is the dwarf dude who played in all the Leprechaun movies.
