I agree that Exodus are more the defining thrash band than Slayer is. While Slayer does have all the traditional songwriting elements down, their dry and harsh sound is not what I'm thinking of when I'm thinking typical thrash from the biggest decade of the genre.

Exodus has that thrash sound that is exactly what I think of when I think 80's thrash. It's more reverby and there's more of a snotty brat attitude. Less carefully controlled than a Slayer album.

It's a rare metal album that's this ecstatically menacing. Or ****ing heavy.

Good band, haven't heard them in a while. One of those many great metal bands from the early 90's that seemed to have a brief blip of success in the scene and then just disappeared off the map. It's a shame, as many of those bands were really unique.

Have you heard their debut? I think that one's even better.

I hear Lord Wyrm left Cryptopsy after None So Vile cause he didn't like the more "experimental" direction they wanted to go in and while they have their moments after that album Wyrm was clearly 100% correct cause Cryptopsy are not and never will be Gorguts. And trying to combine more abstract BDM with deathcore didn't help anything at all. If the band had just broken up after two albums, or maybe just recorded Whisper Supremacy, or skipped And Then You Will Beg and ended on Once Was Not, then they would have had a solid enough legacy for me to call them the best DM band ever, but Jesus Christ did they **** on their own legend.

But holy ****ing shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!
