They were considered mainstream after 88 with the ONE video, but before that? Although metal fans knew EXACTLY who they were, they were not mainstream at all except to metal fans, so it all depends on your definition of Mainstream!

I consider a band mainstream when they begin getting media exposure (with the exception of the internet) outside their local area. From just having your song being played on the radio to touring on Ozzfest to having a video on MTV.

I hate all these bands, but if I had to choose which I hate the least it would probably be Metallica. Also, Dani Filth can suck my non-existant ****.
