Sorry in advance if theres already a thread about this genre, if there is feel free to move this/delete/lock or whatever.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone here listens to any power metal bands? FOr thos of you that dont know, Power metal is metal subgenre similar to Thrash Metal but more melodic with more positive themes focused on fantasy and more.

Some Power metal bands I listen to include

DragonForce
Power Quest
Arthemis
Blind Guardian
Stratovarius

Let me know if you listen to any power metal bands.

Hello everyone, I created a new Power Metal thread but someone linked me to this thread so I'll write here instead then.

I cant hide the truth - I am a big fan of Power metal and the metal genre in general. These are some of my favourite bands,

DragonForce
Power Quest
Arthemis
Blind Guardian
Stratovarius

It would be nice to hear what are your current favourite bands guys.

Aside from Dragonforce I applaud your love of power metal. Not enough people on here are willing to get over themselves and listen to some quality cheese.

Does it make me an elitist that I get annoyed just by the mention of Dragonforce? I just hate everything about them and wish their tour bus would get hit by an IUD. Is that so wrong?

I don't think it's wrong, but I do think you should provide a little bit more information. Some stuff might come off as slightly offensive and we'd love to know why your hate for DragonForce is at the massacre level (I already know, but that other guy probably doesn't).

Simple. I'm pretty sure they were a joke band in the first place and the band are probably just as mystified at their "success" as anyone else. All they do is play a power metal stereotype with zero songwriting ability or originality. Listening to one Dragonforce song is pretty dull, but I used to own Inhuman Rampage and it was a chore to get more than a few songs in.

Man, from what I've heard, that album isn't even good by DragonForce standards.
Anyway, I agree with you. Guess I understand much better now than the last time you explained it.

Hi all, recently discovered by the Russian band "Eihwaz", I heard the debut album "Amadeus" and I think a very good material and unusual. I believe this is an alternative Nightwish. What do you think?

So power metal is probably one of my favorite three metal subgenres, alongside death and black metal.

Favorites include Blind Guardian, Lost Horizon, Persuader, Elvenking, Gamma Ray, Rhapsody, Virgin Steele, Avantasia, Wuthering Heights, Iced Earth and Helstar. And that's without including extreme power metal.

Any gems of the genre I'm missing?
