I'll give you Bomb Disneyland/Everything, those guys are flatout good thrash, Guess What is a great album.

I guess i'm one of the hipster guys who thinks Bleach was a great record, i'll live with it.
count me in as another Nirvana hipster who thinks that also

I'm not even being contrary also, I honestly think its better then Nevermind. Nevermind for the most part is a pop record. Certainly some well written songs and some angsty rock, but I love the distorted, unperfected sound of Bleach.

I've heard This is a long drive, The lonesome crowded west, and The moon and Antarctica. I understand Johnny Marr was added at a later date for their rythym section, so maybe i missed the albums he was a member of.
I actually see what you mean. MM is pretty hard to get into.

In my opinion, I personally think Issac Brock is a great lyricist. His singing style, in my opinion, is really unusual. I really admire their skill as musicians, but they are an acquired taste.

I didn't really enjoy This Is A Long Drive, tbh. The Lonesome Crowded West is pretty good (some people completely rave about it, but I couldn't totally get into it). M&A is amazing, imo.

Johnny Marr played some guitar for their latest studio album, 'We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank', which is a great album.

If Moon & Antartica would've been of the 90's I might've considered choosing them over Soundgarden, but neigh. I really do enjoy Lonesome Crowded West, although it wasn't easy to get into, I haven't listened to Long Drive yet cos it somehow doesn't seem very appealing. There's lot sof other stuff I should listne to so I just don't get around to it.

I can imagine why people don't like them though, Isaac Brock's voice can be pretty terrible and their early style isn't meant for everyone's ears I guess. However, I do think their rhythm section is pretty nice, some of their songs have really smooth drum rolls.

Those were my thoughts exactly. None of the other albums would have gotten any spotlight if it weren't for Nevermind, and the "Bleach is cool because it was before they got famous" folks without Nevermind direct them to further discovery of the band. I'm convinced that's the majority of the reasons given for being overrated. No matter how bad it is.

In terms of the actual album production though, it is overrated. In terms of influence, I doubt so.

I don't see the irony of that. It seems to be a valid opinion for one to have even if they heard Nevermind before knowing of Bleach.

Logically you're implying that the first album that a person hears/loves by a certain band should always be their favorite album by the band and never be considered overrated by that person. Clearly unsound logic.

Personally, I think all of Nirvana's albums are pretty great and I think they are properly merited.

Yeah, I was thinking of The Melvins when I clicked this, then I remembered that they were more late eighties. Even though they never really broke up...

They only released two albums in the late 80's, their most popular albums were released during the 90's.
