^ There is just as much melody in black metal as in any other style of metal, though bad production does occasionally make it hard to hear.

Immortal, Dissection, Enslaved, Mercyful fate, Sacramentum and Burzum are my favourites.

Emperor are mostly excellent even if their newer albums often come off as too ambitious for their own good.

Venom's album "Black Metal" contained nothing that could be considered melody.

Dimmu Borigr doesn't play inverted power chords therefore = not Black Metal.

face it.

So wait, inverted power chords and no melody= black metal?

Venom are widely accepted not even to be BM anyway so I'm not sure how far you can trust what he says.

And you're name's pretty cool as well, I don't suppose RainDog is a Tom Waits reference?

Venom are the ones who gave the genre its name.

and yes Big3.

Cannibal Corpse.
Cenotaph.
Cradle of Filth.
Cryptopsy.
Deicide.
Dimmu Borgir.
Immortal.
Kreator.
Mayhem.
Medagh.
Morbid Angel.
Opeth.
Satyricon.

for some reason, i never bothered with Gorgoroth or Burzum. but Satyricon is so far my favorite.

Yeah, I thought Dimmu Borgir were death metal too.
So many sub-genres though it gets me confused.
Rise Against, by "inverted" power chords do you mean the minor scale chords, not the majors?
