Wolfmother - Cosmic Egg .... they seem a mix between punk and metal. Tell me if I am wrong, I don't know.
You know, I only vaguely remember your taste in music, but I am quite clearly flabbergasted that you dig Angel Witch. And Venom. And Armored Saint. Kick ass.

I have that one on LP I am trying to collect them all on CD, though.

Is that a bad thing...?

I've liked Venom for a few years now, back when I picked up a used copy of Black Metal. Angel Witch? I don't know their music all that much yet, but I do enjoy listening to music that I haven't heard before. And so far they ain't bad. I was listening to my mp3 player through an old receiver the other day while I was taking a nap and after each listen I tend to go back through them to see which ones I didn't recognize and was surprised to see that one of them was Angel Witch. I must have thought it was a different band altogether, whether that is good or bad, I don't know.

Thanks. I try...

Just yesterday I got Megadeth Rust in Peace Remixed and Remastered. Listening to it right now. Today I got Anvil Best of, which consists of rerecorded material, which I was peeved about for a few seconds, but what the helk, right? Also got Death's Leprosy, and Celtic Frost's Morbid Tales... I thought that Celtic Frost was going to sound like Bathory but it sounded much more like Venom, to which I was pleasantly surprised. I'd only heard both through Youtube, and thought that Bathory sounded nothing like Venom, so I guess it's somewhat different black metal...? Either way, I liked Celtic Frost from what I heard online, so a friend bought it for me today.

By the way, how do you pronounce Celtic Frost? I always hear it pronounced with an "S" sound but I always pronounce it with a "K" sound, as in "Keltic" Frost, instead of like that sports team the "Seltics", or "Seltic" Frost. If you get my meaning. It sounds much more foreign if you use the name with a K instead of an S... I think so, at least.

Rust in Peace is one of the pivotal thrash and metal albums around, so it's essential in every way. The only two Anvil albums worth bothering with of Metal on Metal and Forged on Fire both classics, the rest of the discography is quite average in general. All of Death's discography is great, in fact one of the most consistent and best discographies around amongst extreme metal bands. As for Celtic Frost, this band is one of the best metal bands ever! They're pronounced with a "K". Celtic is normally pronounced like so, unless we're talking about the Scottish football team and that would be with an "S". Not sure how the basketball team Boston Celtics are pronounced though. Also Celtic Frost are far better than Venom could ever hope to be

Master of Puppets being the other...? Of course it's Kill 'Em All for me, but back on topic. I've had the original album on CD for so many years I cannot count, but I don't find myself getting into Megadeth all that often...

You aren't into Strength of Steel? It's a bit hair metally, ain't it?

I don't believe I've ever heard their music. I'm thinking the only related death metal that I don't own (Cannibal Corpse being one that I do own) that I listened to on Youtube was Obituary's 1st, but listening to Death I think I can say I like Death better...so far.

I flippin' thought so! Saying "Seltic Frost" just doesn't sound right.

I don't know, I do love Venom! I'll have to get back to you on this...

Terra Tenebrosa - The Purging.

I highly reccommend it to anyone that likes avant garde metal. Superb.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, but you have to listen to Obituary's second album, Cause of Death before you go making any rash decisions.

I don't know, Celtic Frost's first two releases, Morbid Tales and Emperor's Return just sound like a classed up version of Hellhammer, which is the band that Celtic Frost originally evolved from, and classing up Hellhammer is like putting lipstick on a crack whore. So, if you like early Celtic Frost, then listen to Hellhammer, because they are superior. More ugly, more noisy, more gloriously ****ty. And Venom is definitely superior to Celtic Frost's first two as well, though I don't know about Hellhammer. They're pretty fantastic.

After that, it becomes harder to compare Celtic Frost and Venom. Venom were a much more two-dimensional-but-fun band, whereas Celtic Frost were a much more experimental band. Celtic Frost's third release, To Mega Therion, is seen by some as a masterpiece, but it's dated sound has always detracted from the dark, crushing atmosphere that they were going for, though the songwriting itself is definitely strong. But their next album, Into the Pandemonium is a stone cold classic, and pretty much created the idea of "avant-garde metal".

Oh yeah, and here's some Hallhammer for you...

There are two metal albums that I quite like this year, one is Sunbather by Deafheaven and the other is Soma by Windhand. The first album is a shoegaze/death metal hybrid and the second is more stoner/doom.
