Received Killing Is My Business... in the mail today. It's the original mix on CD, but with the notable exclusion of "These Boots".

Bogus. I've heard horror stories about what Dave did to Rust In Peace (I even seem to remember that he rerecorded some vocal parts *shudder*), but I've got the remaster of KIMB, which he did a few years before deciding to go through the rest of his discography, and he didn't really seem to mess with it much besides cleaning up the production a bit. It's not too bad, and actually does make the album hit like a brick, but I'd still like both versions.

He moved "These Boots" to the end of the album, but that's understandable, as he was legally forced to bleep out his lyrical changes to the song. It makes it kind of funny to listen to, but the bleeps are really intrusive. I'd kill for an older copy of that album.

Edit: Having just listened to it again, the bleeps aren't kinda funny. They're ****ing hilarious. I think Dave did it purposefully rather than just cut it, just to **** with the original writer.

I definitely prefer the rawness of the original debut, but that one isn't so bad (it was basically a separate event that wasn't rerecorded as the same time as the other ones where he went into egomaniac mode). He did add a pointless solo at the beginning of "The Mechanix" that needs to be purged though.

Thankfully I burned copies of the originals before the other remasters ever happened, so I never had to deal with the other ones. I've heard serious horror stories about them. Supposedly Dave released ANOTHER version of Peace Sells for its 25-year anniversary that's much better regarded than the previous remaster, so I've been toying with the idea of picking it up, since my copy has a scratch that I think messes up part of "Wake Up Dead". I really wish he hadn't ruined Ruse In Peace though, since there's a serious ****up on "Holy Wars" that actually makes me skip it whenever I listen to the album. Luckily I'm one of the few who thinks that song is overrated though.

Wait, so are the remastered megadeth albums POS? I think all of the Megadeth albums I have are the remastered versions. Should I get the originals?

Well, RiP was ruined, Peace Sells remaster is great. KIMB sounds better remastered technically, but the original is awesomer. SFSGSW remaster has some good and some bad.

The originals are all better still.

Different vocal tracks though, sound like ****

I don't even think you can buy them anymore. Just download them.
