Default Flute Over Metal: Any Thoughts?

So I have been recently been working on a simple collaborative effort to put Native American Styled Flute over metal. It's been a strange concept I have been dying to try out due to me being a fan of both metal and indigenous music.

I've gotten mixed thoughts which is pretty normal with something like this. I would love to hear anyones thoughts and it can be negative or positive.

Please bare in mind I know that flute has been done in orchestrated style pieces. What I am actually talking about is utilizing a flute as an actual vocal marker in music whether it be rhythmically energetic, utilized to create a smooth song, or even to just use in unconventional ways.

I think flute do have big potential to rock. Jethro Tull has won Grammy Award 1989 for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance. Their Music also features a flute, but You can explore different styles of your own.

I've been playing the flute for many, many years now and I don't see a problem with this at all! In fact, I encourage it! I'm sure it will sound amazing. Good luck

That Grammy Award is also seen as one of the biggest jokes in the music industry.

Here's a good example of metal and flute music combined, it sounds pretty good if you can pull it off.

That must be the infamous grammy victory ever, Jethro Tull putting out a rock album that won the grammy for best metal album for the year.

That was a pretty good display Frownland.

Reminded me of Jelonek and the violin/viola over metal. They're pulling it off really well.

As far as flutes go, I love them. That's one reason I like space rock prog jam band Ozric Tentacles so much.

Painkiller are probably the best known example of an extreme metal band that incorporates a Saxophone. I'd recommend you listen to Guts of a Virgin.

Here's a mellow track from that album:

Yeah, Painkiller are pretty cool. Probably easier for most to get into Naked City first though - especially if they are new to John Zorn.
