Tool's discography, Dream Theater's discography, Isis' stuff from Oceanic on, Mastodon's pre-Hunter stuff, Baroness' Red and Blue albums, Porcupine Tree's more recent stuff.

I would go with Still Life or My Arms Your Hearse over Deliverance.

I've seen Atheist mentioned but no Unquestionable Presence and I would include Liquid Tension Experiment (even if both are closer to fusion/jazz than progressive)

Those two albums are great but Deliverance has always been my favourite, maybe it's the structure, and the title track is my favourite Opeth song. And Liquid Tension Experiment is great as well, their s/t is pretty outstanding.

Someone mentioned System Of A Down, and nothing they've done is progressive or technical in any way really....

Done. They are still not progressive metal.

Yeah, I have, a lot. Not progressive in any way shape or form. Just as they aren't nu metal. They're an alternative metal band with hardcore influences (esp. Dead Kennedys), and one of my favorite bands. They just ain't progressive. They're fairly simple, actually.

Well, there is obviously a problem of definition of the term here, but most critics of both albums called them technical or progressive metal, but I agree it's not like any other band, they just don't fit right to any genre... It's progressive enough for me though...

SOAD isn't prog or technical. It's not really a case of subjectivity either tbh, it straight up isn't.

That album is very simple imo, as are all of their albums.
