Default Finnish Metal

I'm intersted in getting into finish metal.
It would be highly appreciated if someone could recommend some good finish metal bands. It doesn't matter what metal genre it is.

Maybe we could also talk a little bit about Finish metal.

Metal bands finish up all the time, but if you're referring to Finnish metal....well that's a different story

Maybe finish metal involves lacquer or some kind of staining process.

I know it wasn't a very good joke, but I feel too tired to think properly today.

Finishing metal requires some DA work, then prime and paint. Rust is your enemy.

Maybe this thread should rust in peace.

Ah the Internet, where everyone gets to hold the red pen.

Anyways in answer to your question here's a few Finnish bands I kind of like to some degree, along with a good starting off point.

Insomnium - Above the Weeping World (2006)

One of the better recent melodic death metal albums, a good balance between heavy guttural sections and clean melodic harmonies. Very good production too, which I know is a dirty word to some people when it comes to anything remotely connected to death metal, but for what it's worth I think this album is beautifully produced.

Wintersun - Wintersun (2004)

A lot of people will say this debut album is overrated, but overrated isn't the same as bad. Perhaps it doesn't live up to the way some people make it out to be, but the same can be said for The Beatles. A good blend of traditional folk instrumentation, with heavier parts, all delivered like a power metal album. Probably won't change your life, but it's still good for a listen every now and then.

Swallow the Sun - New Moon (2009)

One of their latter albums, it's probably their more experimental ones, trying out new styles to their typical death/doom style that they had been doing for the decade. They have a new album out this year that's has a lot of gothic metal influences, but I found the album dragged on far too long and my interested began to wane just around the halfway mark.

I've been enjoying Ensiferum's stuff lately. They play viking/folk metal.
