So originally I posted this under the "Songwriting, Lyrics, and Poetry" category, but it didn't get any responses, so I thought I'd concentrate on the metal fans to get feedback. I want to know what you all think of this (needless to say).


The Flooding of Avalon


Within the unspoiled layers of stone
The pages of time lay bare, speaking ill;
Foretelling its own divine rhythm
With the ghastly demise of an era
From the tombs of those slain
Rises the memory to create anew

The circle of steel remains within ages
Guarded only by the power of blindness
Forgotten tales, to shatter the dimension

The blackened towers of Babel loom above
Their foundations held under grimly painted fields
Heralding the forthcoming massacre,
To survive the upheaval of a thousand legions

What verses may yet unfold before us
When the anguished whispers of the ancients
Are devoured by the scathing wind
Will our race be made prey to its fury?

White shores shall be stained red with the blood of valor
As the axe and sword sing their haunting hymns
Bloodshed and tyranny sculpting our final artwork
As the cosmic river flows in crimson waves
We drown, begging for divine reason,
And still the apathy of nature marches onward

Completing the endless march of the titans
In circles they travel, incarcerated by ignorance
The key evermore to be found…

Yea, the verses of doom lay ever before us
Our race made pray to its own travesty
Utterly annihilated will be the jaded remnants
Of the vile creature known as man.
