:o Ministry are an awesome band, but they definitely aren't death metal. Recent bands I've been listening to are Bolt Thrower, Sarpanitum, Dismember and Portal.

I remember Bolt Thrower being terrible but they had really cool Warcraft album covers. Seen them a couple of times long long ago.

Warcraft? I thought they from from the sci-fi universe that Dawn of War et al. are based on? And Bolt Thrower aren't particularly innovative or groundbreaking, but they're the aural equivalent of being kicked in the head: a good thing for a death metal band imo.

Edit: got it, those album covers were based on the Warhammer 40k universe Realm of Chaos & - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bolt Thrower - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

I knew my memory was'nt that bad. I would'nt mind hearing them again for nostalgia sake and all that.

Bumping this thread.

Not a single mention of Gorguts, Demilich, Lykathea Aflame or Blood Red Throne.
I like my death metal a bit brutal and technical
Also, some of you should check out Necrovation's Breed Deadness Blood. Really good old-school death metal, released this year.

And i second Atheist! Unquestionable Presence & Piece of Time are both amazing.

There's Slam Death as well(more or less similar to brutal death). I've got into this only a few months back and has been somewhat up and down so far. There were some which i liked.
Soils of fate, Devourment & Wormed to be exact...great stuff. Took me a while to get used to it though. Anyone new to brutal/slam death or just non-melodious death metal in general would find it hard to digest.
I just love the tempo changes.

Anymore GOOD slam-death is appreciated...I'm still kinda new to this. Lots of underground sh!t out there, but hard to find something i like.

Not much of a death fan, but I do listen to a fair amount of Immolation/Suffocation/Amarth/Carcass/Hypocrisy/Morbid Angel... Good stuff.

Although Hypocrisy is blackened death. \m/

So, out of curiosity have you heard Garbage Disposal, Solfernus, or Appalling Spawn?
