"Ilyena" and "Wax Simulacra" by The Mars Volta are damn intense.

...and Cannibal Corpse is certainly NOT intense.

I'm listening to Esoteric's "The Pernicious Enigma" right now and although its not really the type of (double) album that can be taken on a song by song basis, the oppressive atmosphere lends itself to a very "intense" listening experience.

/\ By far probably the most metal album I've ever heard.

Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

Anaal Nathrakh's music is pretty intense, including this one:

I'm getting tired of hearing that boring drumbeat in every damn heavy metal song. It never does anything interesting. It may as well be a machine gun.

Pushit, by Tool.
I still cannot believe the intensity of a song that's that technical.
I don't know how they did that.
It's so intense that I hardly ever play it because only thinking about it is usually anough to give me shivers.
