Those bands are about as intense as a rice pudding.

Just because a band plays fast or screams things such as "GGGRRRRRRRRFUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKKAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH " over a riff played at 200mph in every song, that means nothing.

Your average Ian Curtis or PJ Harvey song (I nominate Crawl Home for this BTW) has more intesity in the first line than a hundred Slipknot albums ever will.
Apparently you can tell me what I feel is intense? Pretty cool man. If I'm am not allowed to have my own opinion, then there's really no point in asking is there? Did it ever occure to you that maybe these songs have some special meaning to me, or do you just think everyone should feel the same way you do? Maybe I can actually understand what they are screaming about, maybe I identify with it, and that is what makes it intense for me. No, you probably think that anyone who doesn't like the music you like sucks, and that everyone who likes the music you don't sucks to. Man it must suck to have such a narrow mind. And FYI, if you actually took the time to listen to the words you might find out why someone who spent three years getting her a$$ kicked by her husband could identify, and might find it intense. But you probably don't listen to the words, do you?

You can listen to whatever you want as far as i`m concerned.

The point I was making is I don`t find those bands intense because 99.9999% of their songs sound exactly the same.

I like bands with range & diversity , bands that cover the whole spectrum of emotions. To me when you hear bands just coming out with angry song after angry song it just becomes tired & cliched.Of course bands like Slipknot & Morbid Angel will do angry songs. It`s a part of their gimmick.
On the other hand when I hear a band who don`t always write angry songs when they do , to me it makes it more personal & meaningful because they`re not doing it as a selling point or a gimmick.

kyuss were able to create a real intensity in their music. frank black was cabaple of making any song intense. but the most intense song i know of has to be exit music. bit of a biased decision i know, but the lyrics and yorkes voice- just so intense.
