Thing is, Dream Theater is fantastic live, but I would never see them. John Petrucci has amazing improvisational skills, but his songs are whetted with staunch unemotion.

I still say it doesn't take a great guitar lick to make an intense song. Some of the most groin-grabbingly intense stuff I heard are purely vocal performances.

I dont know if its the most intense song but l'via l'viaquez by the mars volta has some pretty enjoyable intense parts

i dont know, Dead Cowboy is pretty incredible, as is 2 Morro Morro Land... and Birdy... i think Hypermagic Mountain would definetly be the most intense album i own lol
