1. dont get me worng metallica is a great band...but there was no point in making st. anger..i say that they make better music when there hammered

Trauma 05-17-2005 05:08 PM

The Smashing Pumpkins, Guns N Roses :), The Damned :(, The Backstreet Boys, and Garbage to name a few.

SATCHMO 05-17-2005 05:11 PM

Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The rolling Stones, The Cure

.angie. 05-17-2005 05:13 PM

98degrees. maroon5.

.angie. 05-17-2005 05:14 PM

^they should have stopped before they even started.

Trauma 05-17-2005 05:14 PM

Dude RHCP?!?!?
They're still on FiRe!!

SATCHMO 05-17-2005 05:18 PM

Gimme a break. After One hot Minute every single Chilli Peppers song has sounded exactly the same.

hookers with machineguns 05-17-2005 05:24 PM

If only RHCP made a career out of covering Stevie Wonder songs, I would say otherwise.

Trauma 05-17-2005 05:29 PM

^
^ Regarding Satchmo's post.

:(

Didn't Dave Navarro help them with that after J.A. broke up?

Yes, and that's one of the reasons I love that album. Oh and Hookers I don't quite understand what you mean.

You've heard "Higher Ground" right?

SATCHMO 05-17-2005 05:42 PM

Fo Shizzle my Hizzle with machizzlegizzle. I'm having a momentary lapse of stupidity; feel me out here. Are you saying that if they stuck to Stevie covers they'd still be on it today?

hookers with machineguns 05-17-2005 05:46 PM

Well I was saying they'd be pretty damn cool if they stuck with Stevie covers throughout their career (not saying they aren't "pretty damn cool" for you RHCP fanatics). Overall, I guess I'm "indifferent" about them because I never listened to them to begin with.

Oh, and I agree The Cure should have stopped after the early 90s.

TheBig3 05-17-2005 06:30 PM

boy, an opener with a metallica bash, didn't really see that one coming. Hey, is it me or do alot of people dislike St. Anger and the Load twins? I hadn't noticed before with the innumerate threads that dice them up.

Give me a GD break, you expect these artists to be in the business because they love making/playing music, and when you deem them too lousy to continue, you ask them to give up what you demanded they love.

Go listen to the corporate polish if you don't like the way old bands have progressed.

SEVRINLEADER 05-17-2005 11:53 PM

Metallica doesn't need to give up.....more of stop. They are a great band but I don't see how they can improve. They've reached as high as they would ever go.

Bands I'd like to see quit........well Blink182 already did so yay for that. Next is Simple Plan, NFG, GC and so on with those bands alike.

SaTaNsChIlD666 05-18-2005 09:19 AM

^true dat

TheBig3KilledMyRainDog vbmenu_register("postmenu_68776", true); : the load twins were ok cds........the unforgiven II was good and it had some ok songs...but St anger was really kind of a waste of time....i think they should all go back to their drinking ways..they souned better..like back in the days of So What..Seek and Destroy..Battery

walkin' dude 05-18-2005 09:46 AM

I didn't think much of st.anger, a couple of good tracks on it, but I don't think they should quit. I reckon they can pick their game up and come back with a good album.
Well maybe I should replace reckon with "pray"......
It'll be cool if they do.

and so you've all been warned fairly, ill tell your right now that if they come back with a great album, these boards will never hear the end of it.

SaTaNsChIlD666 05-18-2005 01:16 PM

they will come out with another great...i know they will...all i said was St. Anger wasnt their best...im a metallica fan through and through..**** dude i got one of lars's drumsticks that he threw off satge a few years back

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-18-2005 01:19 PM

U2 , but then did you expect me to say anything else

I would say the Rolling Stones too , but i`ll wait till i`ve seen them live.

Although they should have stopped making albums in 1982

Hardcore_Guy 05-18-2005 04:39 PM

i hate myself for saying this, but AFI should've really kept going with the Black Sails in the Sunset style. the two newest albums killed it.

Good luck, tickets are rolling out for 8,000 dollars right now in scalp-happy Boston. Mmm, tastes like freedom.

You know for all the friggen states talk about fighting terrorism, they don't do thing one about shutting down scalpers. Living in Ma, you can't buy a ticket strait up, everyone buys from scalpers...they were the last rock and roll right of passage I had to undertake too.

walkin' dude 05-19-2005 03:33 AM

A scalper, is that a ticket tout? I assume so....
I think they have their place. It's cool if you don't buy a ticket in time and they sell out and you can pick one up outside the gig. It's kind of a last resort thing, 'cause you have to pay the rip off prices they charge. It sucks though if there a big problem, but a few can be beneficial to some.........

They have organized armies here who swarm and flood any available ticket outlets essentially buying up anything they can. Certain acts have tried to beat them, I know springsteen is requiring ID for all ticket purchases and then at the door again to make sure everyone who buys a ticket is the one who goes to the show, and once their, they gt a wrist band. People are pissed because now they can sit aorund and get one at the last minute, but I don't care cause those are the people who could afford a $500 ticket. Screw rich lazy people. Join the working class buddy and get in line.

walkin' dude 05-19-2005 09:31 AM

^S**t, I said it sucks if theres a big problem, as in armys of the f**kers buying up tickets so others can't go. Maybe I didn't explain my view point very well.
What I was trying to get across is that a few can be a good thing, like if last minute you've decided to go to a gig where your mates are going and at the time of ticket sales you were not gonna go, and now there sold out. In that respect, if you wanna go bad enough, then you'll pay the higher prices. I wasn't universally sticking up for them, but there is more than one side to an arguement. Oh, and I am working class, I work 9to5 to pay my rent and my bills, and before the job I'm doing now I was a barman for 2 years, not the sort of job you do for the money (so don't assume stuff about pll you know noting about, 'cause you'll most likely be wrong). Besides the little dig at the end, I agree with everything you just said

SaTaNsChIlD666 05-19-2005 04:23 PM

i bought a ticket from a scalpler once.......it was my ****in cousin.....he had these tickets to a lamb of god concert.

TheBig3 05-19-2005 08:05 PM

walkin' I wasn't refering to you, that was a preverbial "get in line buddy" to the rich people out there. That wasn't directed at you.

walkin' dude 05-20-2005 02:27 AM

^alright thebig3killedmyraindog, thats cool. The point you said about the tickets having your name on them and I.d to get in to gigs should be more wide spread. It's already done at festivals, the problem with gigs is you can get get the tickets in music shops sometimes, if all the tickets where sold through ticket hotlines & the internet only it could be introduced, I wouldn't really want it done that way though. It's not really a problem for the bands, if they where losing money something would be done but its only the fans that in some cases are getting ripped off, and when it comes down to it, I think that the bands sould do more to protect they're fans as its them that got 'em there in the first place.

RollingStoner 05-20-2005 07:43 AM

I've seen them live, absolute class, will definitely be there next year as well!

the stones?

burden123 06-06-2005 12:37 PM

oasis! first 3 albums were great

Josephine 06-06-2005 12:40 PM

Oasis indeed...and the Stones...Mick Jagger...just pathetic...that's pathetic.

eviljoker7075 06-06-2005 01:04 PM

Not too sure I agree with Oasis being listed here, at least give them a go with their latest album first... then come back and judge again!

I do however agree with the Chili's being listed here, I find them annoying and loathe all bands that do Chili's covers!

ArtistInTheAmbulance 06-06-2005 01:12 PM

^All Saint's version of Under The Bridge springs to mind. *Shudder* Awful, awful song.
