Probably Black Sabbath. Can't say that Led Zeppelin really got me into the heavy metal in the same way... Black Sabbath and Judas Priest were the first ones I started listening to.

Because I don't know what my first METAL band was (it was probably Breaking Benjamin, Led Zeppelin, or Godsmack), I'll say what my first ever extreme metal band was. Back in 2004, I discovered an album by the brutal death band Suffocation. Now that I've heard everything by them, this particular album that I discovered is actually now my least-favorite by them haha.

Goo deal. Suffocation are one of the few brutal death metal bands that can hold my interest for longer than two minutes. As far as my first extreme metal band goes it would have to be Bathory (unless you count Slayer). I still remember the first time I listened to their self-titled debut. I was pretty much smitten by the first song.

Seriously, how can you not love that?

So yeah... Linkin Park basically, but if we are on about METAL-METAL then for sure is AskingAlexandria!!<3
Since when is Linkin Park considered metal? Is it the dreaded Nu-Metal...?

I cannot say that I have listened to much Linkin Park, just the few songs on the radio, but if those are good examples of their catalog, I can't seriously regard them as metal.

And Asking Alexandria...? Is that an actual metal band?

Iron Maiden, I can always remember hearing Powerslave when I was little, my father was a huge fan.

I went through a bit of a goth phase when I was 17 where I listened to a lot of Trivium, HIM and KoRn. But discovering Nightwish on a random youtube surf was the beginning of my "musical awakening" and I found other symphonic metal groups like Epica and Lunatica. I enjoy metal, but symphonic metal is my passion.

I believe it was Kataklysm and Intestine Baalism that got me into metal... I really only listen to black metal and death metal but those are definitely the two that got me hooked.
