Janszoon most Nu Metal bands are more similar to alternative and industrial than genres I listed.

What the hell are you talking about? I DON'T listen to Dying Fetus, I don't even like them. AND I wasn't the one that made the "sophisticated" comment, dumbass. Look at the top of the page, my respectful, kind comment is right up there. I no longer hold that respect, but it was up there, you can check.

EDIT: And JUST TO MAKE MYSELF CLEAR I have no problem with nu metal, I just don't really listen to it. I HAVE heard some nu metal that wasn't bad. I don't like Slipknot, but I've heard some Korn that wasn't bad, and heard some lesser known nu metal bands that I actually liked, so get off your high horse, hypocrite.

I believe the technical term is "mallcore".

Fisher-Price Metal sounds more condescending.

I know, but why did you get hurt then if you don't listen to Dying Fetus?

And there is even worse songs than that IMO. I once heard something from Cannibal Corpse, song is called "Slaughter Everybody" or "Make all suffer", you know, classic song title for such a sophisticated genre LOL.

So you got nothing against Nu Metal? Hmmm... "nu metal has rather sub par song writing, and was a cash-grab", yep, I can feel the respect.

I'm pretty sure Limp Bizkit and Slipknot sound nothing like Throbbing Gristle or Einstürzende Neubauten. So, sorry, but they're not similar to industrial. Alternative? It's a vague term, but sure nu metal was certainly influenced by the likes of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, Rage Against the Machine, Alice in Chains, etc. It was also very heavily influenced by death metal, thrash, groove metal and hardcore. If you're not aware of that, you need to read up on your music history.

NO

seriously not at all in any way shape or form.

I wasn't hurt, I was annoyed that you pretty much compared every non-nu metal band to Dying Fetus.

Also, I don't listen to Cannibal Corpse, either (though I do believe I posted one of their songs to the OP when he asked for bands more brutal than Slipknot).

And yeah, I stand by that statement. I don't have anything against nu metal, but yeah, the genre typically has sub par (as in, generic, cookie-cutter copies of one another) songwriting, and yes, it was mostly a cash grab. It was one of the biggest genres of the early 2000's, I can assure you that most of the bands playing nu metal were in it for the money.

Does all that mean I hate nu metal? No, but it does mean that it's a pop genre designed for kids! That's not a bad thing, but it's kind of just the way it is.

Sub par lyrics?

Search lyrics for Limp Bizkit - Rearranged, The Truth, The Story, Walking Away or even listen to those songs and I dare you to say sub par lyrics again :p:

And if they can be in it for the money and still make better and more meaningful music than heavy/thrash/death/black kudos to them. Too bad we'll never know for sure so you can keep your guesses to yourself.

What are you trying to say by pop genre? That its popular or that it is related to pop music? Cause I know it was popular late 90s early 2000s but it isn't anymore. Now heavy/thrash/death are more popular than Nu. And it obviously isn't related to pop music.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike ALL music from the genres I mentioned. I can stomach some Metallica, Pantera and I even heard a good death metal song once but it was ruined by a boring, long unneeded solo. The solo was BTW Spirit Crusher by Death.

Opposed to Fred Durst doing a solo?

Janszoon 12-15-2012 09:50 PM

Wow. That was sad.

blastingas10 12-16-2012 03:46 AM

I believe that was some Avant-garde soloing, wasn't it?
