In that case I suggest you type this into google...

'80s Stadium Rock'
'90s Stadium Rock'
'Post Grunge'

It's funny, I mostly find bands as I go. Maybe I read an article about them. Maybe I get recommened them. Maybe liking a band results in me stumbling into another band through stuff like youtube suggestions.

I sacrifice a goat and wait for Satan's response. Or at least that's how I find out about metal bands. With jazz and such, I too use last.fm.

Yep, same here. But also through books.

I tend to use RateYourMusic, BestEverAlbums and progarchives these days, checking the top lists there. Unfortunately those sites are useless when it comes to Asian music, so I also have to do random searches in google, though Wikipedia is actually helpful sometimes.

What kinds of Asian music do you listen to out of curiosity? Aside from some Japanese metal and electronica, some Chinese and Korean classical, and a handful of random pop, my exposure to the music of that part of the world is pretty limited.

Well, I'm quite the newb when it comes to Asian music, but I listen to some Thai pop/rock, k-pop, j-pop/rock. It's hard to find information, though. Recently I've been listening to a best-of by Japanese hard rock/pop band G'z, I like what I hear so far. Let me guess, you listen to Loudness and X-Japan? :D

Nope. As far as Japanese metal goes I'm more into the likes of Boris and Swarrrm.
