Fair enough but what he did was not "shut up and play your guitar." Its censorship and im glad Reznor didn't bastardize his vision to appease corporate screw jobs, the same ones you bitcha bout repeatedly.

If he preformed without the banner you'd have called him a sellout.

He could have worn it as a t shirt , he could put a sticker on his guitar , hell he could have said it in the introduction if it bothered him that much. Sure MTV may cut it out but at least then he could have said that he did it.If the issue was that important he would have done anything he could to get his message across.
Besides it an award show , you let Reznor spout out his political opinions how many other D list celebs are going to do the same. Hey while we`re about it lets hear Mariah Carey`s ideas for the stability of the middle east for the next century or Eminem`s views on the atrocities being commited by Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe. Do you honestly think that Trent Reznor didn`t accept the offer to perform at this award show knowing full well that MTV would have rules about the content of the show.

I remember reading a few years ago Beck saying he was approached by a beer company to use one of his songs in an ad. He wasn`t really bothered about it & said that he just kept on pushing the money he wanted up & up just to see how far they`d go. I think Reznor has done the same thing here.He`s just pushed MTV to see how far they`d go & now they`ve said no he`s milking the attention to sell his *new* album..
