I'm pretty sure it's a term that was coined by music critics mocking the genre.

I thought about that myself, and the fanbase is definitely the same, but they just don't fit in in my book(and if you're interested, his last album wasn't bad at all, though kind of forgettable).

the term to me NU metal is the same has Alt Metal and Alt metal can dammm mean alllootttt of things

anything that does not sound like Iron maiden and Judas preist is more likely ALt metal

I don't know either. I was listening to the radio the other day just after reading this thread and the Beautiful People was playing. Anyway, I started to wonder if it was Nu-Metal. The only reason it would be, I'd think, is the time that his stuff came out. Other than timing, I don't think he falls into that category. But I could be wrong.

I think he's more gothic-wannabe metal...if that's even a genre. But then again, as I was typing that, I'm not certain that fits, either.

if Manson is Industrail then hell so is Korns Syotos Album

Almost all Nu Metal has a heavy industrial influence, but they have a lot of hip hop and grunge influences too and I don't hear too much of that in Manson's music. Manson has a lot more in common with KMFDM, Skinny Puppy, or Ministry than with Limp Bizkit, P.O.D. or Papa Roach. Manson is definitely industrial, you could argue about the metal I suppose but I wouldn't.
