im like u prob i grew up on Metal i loved heavy metal and all its different colors and styles

but like any sane person i ...... grew out and started to listen to everything after that

IMO Metal is kinda like a gateway to ...MUSIC

Your answer could apply to any kind of music. But nothing really suggests metal being a gateway more than other genres of music.

As for where I was, in London most of the time.

That's virtually identical to me, I discovered metal, then punk then I went onto The Stooges, MC5, Iggy, New York Dolls before finding indie & dance music.
