Default The Black Angels

Anyone heard 'em? Pretty cool, relatively new band from Texas. I saw them open for QOTSA a couple of weeks ago. Their sound's somewhat hard to describe...um, guess you could say it's late '60s psychedelia (Jefferson Airplane, Velvet Underground, etc.) fed through the fuzzboxes of the early-to-mid-'90s desert rock bands. The result is awesome, in any case.

Pretty good stuff. I just downloaded The First Vietnamese War off of their website and that was a good listen. I thought it sounded pretty relaxed, I'm going to listen some more. Good find mate.

Yeah they're awesome, definitely one of my favorite bands at the moment. I can't wait to see them in September, they're playing at ATP New York.

I've been pretty big on The Black Angels recently. I love "Passover".

Directions to See a Ghost, Passover, and Phosphene Dream are all albums I am pretty fond of. This is a band I have some unreasonably high hopes for. Actually like them to the point where I bought something, which is a lot coming from my cheap self.

I think I'm missing an LP though, come to think of it, so I need to fix that.

The Black Angels are very consistent, I don't think I've listen to a bad album yet by them. They seem pretty amazing live too. Right Now my favorites are "Directions to See A Ghost" and "Phosphene Dream". They took a bit longer to click with me than "Passover" for some reason, but usually that means an album has a longer listening life for me.

Pretty much the sexiest tunes I've heard in a while. Going to rape their discog.
