Oh yes, those two are among the best. :) Nothing Else Matters is another example.

"Send Me an Angel" is a great song, but I don't think it's specifically about love and therefore not my idea of a power ballad, which hasn't been defined in this thread.

As I think of the power ballads I know, I must say most are mediocre - it's like the great lyricists and musicians would rather avoid the format or aren't in the hard rock genre to begin with.

A power ballad is a ballad performed in a rock music style. Power Ballads may also refer to, Power Ballads (compilation album), Power Ballads (Aqueduct album), and Power Ballads (Aus album).

"Send Me an Angel" is a power ballad by German heavy metal band Scorpions, released on their 1990 album Crazy World. Along with "Wind of Change", it became the album's signature track, reaching number 44 on Billboard Hot 100 Chart, number 8 on the Mainstream Rock Chart.

I'm not into Hair Metal, I can't say exactly a what is a power ballad from the standpoint of a metalhead. I think I recall Sam Dunn saying that artist/bands like Nazareth and Dio did influence the Hair Metal Power Ballad craze that happen in the 80s - not exact quote, I'm only paraphrasing what he said.

Nazareth - Love Hurts

Dio - Rainbow in the Dark

Yeah, I'm burnt completely out on listening to very much hair metal myself at any one given time as well. :p:

But there is actually some good rock ballads out there to choose from. Journey and Boston are just a few to mention for example.

I prefer listening to good rock ballads over power ballads most of the time. ;)

Send Me an Angel is just the same over and over again, and Wind of Change just doesn't hit me. Still Loving You does, though, so I'll stick to it.

Fixed. Klaus Meine couldn't express emotion if you killed his puppy in front of him on stage. And a power ballad without emotion, forced or otherwise, is balls. Long live Vince Neil.

Who's got about as much vocal talent as Axl Rose and Chad Kroeger.

I feel the same way about Klaus Meine's voice as I do about Yngwie Malmsteen's guitar playing. They both might be talented but I couldn't give less of a shit.
