I'm actually a bass player, but I do play electric & acoustic rhythm guitar and a little drums, but nowhere as good as some of my predecessors. You're right about a lot of cover bands not performing the songs correctly. I think it has more to do with how good and versatile the lead singer is more so than having outstanding musicians. Although I'm sure both are preferred. Covering the classics from the 60's and on into the the 70s & 80s is always a lot of fun. Maybe I'll get to cover one of my favorite songs by Steely Dan one of these days. :D

Yeah, I think you're right about that too. But honestly, I think you're being modest. I bet you can kill it. Which song is the Steely Dan one? :P

Don't Take Me Alive is one that I would like to do, but I would more than likely prefer someone else play the bass since I would be doing the lead vocal. I honestly don't believe I could handle both of them at the same time. If you listen to the bass lines in that particular song you will understand why.

I definitely see it. How long have you been playing bass?

And you said a lot about lead vocal, what kind of voice do you have or do you maybe have some recordings? Nudge, nudge.

It's encouraging to see that I am not the only BOC fan who is still around - judging by the number of posts in this thread. BOC has not been forgotten at all.

God bless the heavy metal kids from Stony Brook University! On your feet - or else!

These would probably be my favorites, in chronological order...

The first 3 as "Stalk-Forrest Group", before they were known as Blue Oyster Cult.

Gil Blanco County
Ragamuffin Dumplin
St. Cecila

And the rest from the first 10 Blue Oyster Cult albums.

Then Came The Last Days Of May
She's As Beautiful As A Foot
Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll
The Red & The Black
Hot Rails To Hell
Career Of Evil
Harvester Of Eyes
Astronomy
Buck's Boogie
(Don't Fear) The Reaper
E.T.I. (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)
The Revenge Of Vera Gemini
Godzilla
Golden Age Of Leather
I Love The Night
Burnin' For You

BOC at their most poppy and it sounds like a Squeeze song.
