New Nightwish
Tarja vs Anette?
I like both singers on different levels. Tarja had the most beautiful voice and an amazing range, I like the operatic style. Anette is a big change. She is much more contemporary. But the more I listen to Amaranth the more I like her. Of course the only songs I've heard from the new singer is Amaranth and Bye Bye Beautiful. I'm picking up Dark Passion Play tonight and thats when I can really get an idea of who I like better. EDIT: After picking up the CD....I like Anette just as much as I like Tarja, but like I said, they are on different levels. I mean I retain that Tarja is AMAZING. But as for International popularity, I think Anette is going to do wonders for the band. I mean, this CD alone already has four singles(I believe) and I firmly believe that a few of those could get radio play over here(not sure about other areas but Detroit gets NOTHING like Nightwish). Her voice is more rock, less symphonic and with America at least, the majority of the people would want to listen to Anette more than Tarja. I am hopeful for more touring in America(YEAH!). With that said, a few more songs to check out would be "Whoever Brings The Night", "For The Heart I Once Had" and "Seven Days of The Wolves" Even if you havent liked Nightwish in the past, the new singer is definately worth a listen. |
I miss Tarja....she's on a completely different level than Anette....
I heard that she's coming out with a solo album soon Anette is on the same playing field as Amy Lee.....Anette could replace Amy Lee and Evanescence fans wouldn't notice the difference |
^Anette has a better live presence than Amy Lee for sure. And she's a lot prettier. (NOT a fan of Amy Lee lol).
|
I liked the way you characterized Tarja and Anette respectively, explains it pretty well. Personally I prefer Tarja but then again I haven't listened to new Nightwish that much.
|
I think Tarja has more technical skill than Anette, but I also found Tarja's voice over powering in Nightwish. Anette fits them better I think.
|
Haha. "Bye Bye Beautiful" is such a diss on Tarja.
"It’s not the tree that forsakes the flower But the flower that forsakes the tree" |
I liked Nightwish for a long time, but eventually they became boring to me. After Tarja left, I wasn't sure what to think but then I heard the Dark Passion Play samples and that album breathed new life into them for me. Anette and Tarja are completely different, but I think they're both good at what they do, and I'm going to leave it at that. I like both.
I'm going to see them March 29th, really looking forward to it! |
Nightwish- Tarja or Anette
Personally, i like tarja better. nightwish doesnt seem the same without her.
thoughts? reasons? |
I think that people will not appreciate any Nightwish threads on this forum, nobody seems to like that kind of music. but I am going to answer, Anette sucks! I would pick Tarja (as any other person with ears would) over Anette anytime!
|
I also prefer Tarja. Nothing against Annete, but there was so much great music made with Tarja. Maybe after they release several more albums with her, I will get used to her, but I find myself listening to Angels Fall First far more than Dark Passion Play.

Thread merged.
|
Okay, I don't know much about Nightwish but Tarja over Anette OBVIOUSLY.
|
I'm so sick of everyone whining about Anette. I think she fits the band just fine. The people who prefer Tarja are the kind of people that like to use the words "control" and "technique"

Absolutely ADORE Nightwish, mostly the old Nightwish, when they still had Tarja. She has such a beautiful voice. In my opinion, Anette doesn't have the vocal quality that gave the band its signature sound. Tarja has such a rich, full sound, and you can tell it's not just good training but also real talent and passion in her voice. I think Anette just makes them seem closer to popular hard rock instead of the fantasy air they're known for. But they are my favorite band and I will love them forever.
|
Not heard a single thing by them. Is it similar to Lacuna Coil and Evanescense?

Now that I think of it, I think my favorite Nightwish song is "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion." I love the mix of growling metal vocals and rich, operatic soprano.

I think it's stupid to hate on Anette just because she isn't an opera trained singer. Anyone who thought they'd get a Tarja clone is an idiot |

it all depends what you like in a vocal.
