Children of Bodom are classical/death

Power metal is reserved for a guitar style. has nothing to do with the vocals or song structure

Bodom has death influences in arrangement and classicaly influenced guitar. with Black vocals.

Black metal is inverted power chords, super high pitched screams/talking in finnish, and overtly satanic imagery

death metal is technical guitar with guttural vocals (a few exceptions notably Death and Among the Slain) and an emphasis on gore lyrics

all of you need to learn youre ****ing history

Electric Oceans was closest. and Music Is Pwnge just sucks.

judas_priest 08-09-2005 02:37 PM

I like Classic, Heavy, or Thrash metal, like Maiden and Metallica.
What exactly is Nu-metal, and also how can you differentiate between Black/Death/Doom/Goth music? what would bands like Slayer and Pantera be classed as?

riseagainstrocks 08-09-2005 06:44 PM

nu metal is angsty.

black is what i said before, same with death.

Doom is very sludgy often played very slow with a doomy feel to it.

goth is ***. i won't elaborate

Slayer is Thrash metal and Pantera...eh southern rock influenced Thrash

anthrax_89 08-12-2005 02:23 PM

:band: yea slayer, anthrax, pantera, some metallica. basically thrash...

marshmallowmonkey 08-12-2005 02:28 PM

that is some good bands you got goin down there

anthrax_89 08-12-2005 04:42 PM

it makes sense that thrash was influenced by southern rock cause i like lynard skynard, ZZ top and stuff like that too.... I like GOOD music, lol the rest is crap. oh forgot to mention Megadeath..

SATCHMO 08-12-2005 04:43 PM

How does it make sense that thrash was influenced by southern rock?

anthrax_89 08-12-2005 05:20 PM

ok, im not sure either, but i was just listening to lynard skynard, then slayer .... and i noticed thrash is just southern rock played really fast and harder.....try it and youll see.

riseagainstrocks 08-17-2005 11:42 AM

i like Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple and they are generally classed as the original heavy metal bands. i dont know what particular type of metal they are,

also, the Who's first album, My Generation is sometimes classified as the first heavy metal/punk album

yellowTruck 09-02-2005 02:35 AM

Nwobhm

marshmallowmonkey 09-02-2005 03:52 AM

boo boo 09-02-2005 09:58 PM

What about classic/proto metal?...Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Blue Cheer, Van Halen, Blue Oyster Cult, Uriah Heep, UFO, Rush, Alice Cooper and King Crimson...thats the good stuff. :)

Merkaba 09-03-2005 04:44 AM

Awww someone break the 3 way tie in the polls for Crying Out Loud!

yeah, all great bands - i dont know much (anything) about metal other than this sort of stuff

riseagainstrocks 09-05-2005 08:25 AM

I like how there is 6 votes for Black Metal and yet no one realizes that Cradle of Filth isn't black metal.

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-05-2005 08:28 AM

Why isn`t there an option for 'Metal' ?

Merkaba 09-05-2005 07:59 PM

I think it's because 'Metal' is such a genre divided...genre.

True...Same can be said of prog rock, punk rock and alternative rock...They are all broken down into different sub genres, genre classification can be confusing as hell, i like artists from almost every genre weither its prog, punk, metal, alternative or whatever...Genre dosent really matter all that much to me, music is music, i dont care what genre a band is as long as they are good, every genre has their good and bad artists, there is no exception.

Merkaba 09-09-2005 05:13 PM

No exception until someone creates...Pop Metal...
But thats not possible unless you count Slipknot

Muzak 09-09-2005 07:06 PM

Industrial Metal Like Rammstein.

Does Rob Zombie count as industruial? Someone told me that and I was wondering if thats true?

MURDER JUNKIE 09-10-2005 12:14 AM

Satanic Death Grind obviously :ar_15s:  :ar_15s:
