If Children Of Bodom fall under power, then power it is.

Music Is Pwnage 07-01-2005 04:02 PM

Pantera power metal lol.

Barnard17 07-01-2005 04:36 PM

Bodom are NOT power metal. Listen to Dragonforce or Manowar. THAT is power Metal. Bodom are Death/Black ish.

riseagainstrocks 07-02-2005 08:10 AM

Melodic Death.

riseagainstrocks 07-02-2005 08:11 AM

Manowar isn't Power metal either.

Power Metal: Therion, Dragonforce, Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Leaves Eyes.

that is all.

Electric Ocean 07-02-2005 08:17 AM

I'd say Bodom's music is largely Power but with Black Metal vocals and so I classified them as Power.

What would you classify them as then?

Death Metal.

Haha, you've gotta be kidding me. Have you actually listened to any Death they are not heavy enough to fit into either genre. I'll admit that, yeah they do have some Black influences but they're still largely a power band.

Have you even heard any power metal? They sound nothing like Dragonforce or Dream Evil or anything.

They clearly aren't brutal enough to be put into Death Metal and they certainly don't have the growling vocals. I can see how some people may argue that they have some black metal influences, especially in the vocals but overall they are too melodic.

Have you ever actually listened to any Death Metal? Download some Cryptopsy or something and tell me they sound like COB.

If you want to try and argue your case and prove that I'm a "Douche" you could at least put up a well informed argument for your believing that they are death metal with the criteria that show they would fit into said genre.

In my opinon, if you really want to get stupid about it then Bodom would fall under Neo-Classical influenced, Power influenced Metal with Black Metal vocals. It's people like you that make the whole genre thing rediculous because you proclaim to know about styles of music when I'm fairly sure you have no idea of the history and general sounds of the genre in question and so people have to invent even more stupidly named, rediculous genres which cover a niche of about 5 bands just so you can understand them and not keep sounding off.

sleepy jack 07-03-2005 11:33 AM

Wikipedia isn't a legitimate source for anything, especially music. They're not anything like any other power metal bands, so they aren't power metal. It's that simple.

Electric Ocean 07-03-2005 11:36 AM

If you're going to continue arguing without and facts to back up what you're saying then I'm not even going to bother responding on the matter as this is just spamming this thread up to no end.

I think my logic is fine. I don't like death metal so I'm not going to speak on it but they sound like a lot of death metal I've heard. The simple thing is they're NOT power metal and I think my logic is solid on that.

Electric Ocean 07-03-2005 11:59 AM

Quit being a dick, I said I was done you should be too. They're power metal, they sound power metal, smell power metal, must be power metal. Death metal? what a joke. I cited websites, you just say what you say is right.

It should be pointed out that Wikipedia does no produce hard facts and requires people to submit information for it to be included: someones opinion is just as valid as the information on Wikipedia.

WIKIPEDIA ALSO SAYS DRAGONFORCE ARE POWER METAL, DO THEY SOUND LIKE COB? NO, GOT IT? OR DO I NEED TO BE MORE CLEAR HERE FAGGOT?

Electric Ocean 07-03-2005 12:10 PM

They do sound similar.

sleepy jack 07-03-2005 12:13 PM

Now you're just being difficult to hide your idiocy.
