Hard rock..but anything goes really. As long as it sounds good doesn't really matter what specific 'category' it belongs to.

i'm gettin pissed at how many subgenres of metal there are. i know it makes it easier to categorize a bands sound, but seriously. anyone agree?

Metal is kinda littered with ridiculous sub genres - it almost seems that every metal band is a new metal genre - either that or every seco nd or third metal bad belongs in a different genre...

Still, the number of sub genres in metal obscures when you look at electronic/dance music.... waaaaaaay too many sub - genres going on there....hehehehehehehe

Definitely too many metal sub genres. I can handle most of them but then you start putting -core on the end of everything and breaking up genres into tiny little pieces and it just gets ridiculous. Not to mention all this viking/pirate/samurai talk on here recently. That thread really just underlines how far people will take it.

Its possible to have alot of fun with those names...

Any one up for a bit of vikingcore, followed by samurai hardcore speed metal blues / rock anglo - fusion tribal slowcore death metal?

.... sounds interesting...

Pantera was groove metal. Not to sound to technical or anything. There are entirely too many subgenres, though. We could make do with maybe 4-5, 1,000 is ridiculous.

I actually just cant believe that Samurai metal does appear to be a genuine genre. Especially as it was mentioned as a joke in another thread.
