Nirvana never got to sink to the depths that Weezer did.

Weezer actually released good albums at one point.

Also, Weezer were capable of producing actual emotion as opposed to what always felt like Nirvana's brand of contrived, forced apathy.

Nirvana wrote better songs, imo. But Weezer are more talented. Rivers is a pretty decent guitarist. Kurt... a lot of his riffs and some of his melodies were pretty derivative. And as others have said, Nirvana never started sucking. I'm pretty sick of 90% of Nevermind but it's still a great album, as are the other two and all the obscure material. Weezer started sucking pretty fast... they still write fun pop songs but they're just not the same.

Also, Kurt was kind of an elitist, self-absorbed douche. Rivers... well, idk. Never saw an interview of him.

Rivers Cuomo is pretty narcissistic as well but at least Weezer didn't rip off the Pixies.

There were more bands than just Pixies that influenced Nirvana, other influences are:
  • The Beatles
  • Black Sabbath
  • Devo
  • Meat Puppets
  • The Melvins
  • R.E.M.
  • Shonen Knife
  • Sonic Youth
  • Vaselines
  • The Wipers
